Five on Friday

TGIF!!   I know it was a short week but I am so exited to see Friday again.

This week I'm linking up with  April from A. Liz Adventures and the other three lovely ladies to give you my Five on Friday.

1. Origins VitaZing Tinted Moisturizer
I discovered this moisturizer last July and have been hooked ever since.  It's the perfect lightweight summer moisturizer  that gives you a nice hint of color while moisturizing, energizing, and providing some sun coverage with SPF 15.   I usually wear it under Origins sheer powder or Bare Minerals foundation depending on how much coverage I need.  It's very similar to a BB cream.
2. This Pool
I spend pretty much every free weekend I can here.  It's my parent's backyard pool and it's pretty much heaven on earth.  It's private and peaceful and you just can't help but relax when you're there.  Baby Boy H better like the water because he's going to spend a lot of time here.

3. Entenmann's Frosted Devil's Food Mini Donuts
For some reason I have been obsessed with donuts since I've been pregnant.  This is one of those cravings I have sort of kept hidden because the amount of donuts I've eaten is almost embarrassing.  I'm not even sure it's a craving or me just throwing caution to the wind about my diet.  My newest thing is keeping a hidden box of these donuts in a cabinet my husband never goes in because he's been trying to keep my junk food intake curbed.  Yup, I'm the fat kid hiding donuts.   I know I'm probably already failing as a mom but I just can't help it.

4. My Sister's Ikea Rast Hack
Please check out what my sister did the with Ikea Rast Dresser below.  Seriously gorgeous.  I'm considering forcing her to come over this summer and DIY some stuff around my house while she's on summer break. You can find more details here.

5. Target Striped Maxi Dress
Alissa posted this dress yesterday on her blog and I am making a beeline to Target this morning to pick one up.  It is not only adorable but also looks so comfortable.  I also hope it will help hide my post baby body a bit this summer without looking too frumpy.

36 Weeks!

How Far Along:
36 weeks 3 days- less than 4 weeks or 25 days!

Baby Size:
According to What to Expect: Watermelon- approx 19-22 in long and around 6.5lbs
I asked my doctor yesterday because everyone keeps telling me I'm having a 10lb baby- I think it's because both Kyle and I are tall.    She felt around my stomach (which was painful) and said he is definitely not big at all, at the most 7lbs or right under.  She didn't see me having a baby much over 8lbs if I go over due.   I know this is just an estimate but it makes me feel so much better.

Total weight gain/loss:
Hanging on around 33lbs

Exercise:
Still doing at least 2 miles of walking a day.  I swear this is the only reason I have any energy and haven't gained 50lbs.

Maternity Clothes:
Yes probably 90% of the time- I can still wear non maternity dresses and yoga pants

Stretch Marks:
So far so good, I'm getting nervous for these last few weeks though

Sleep:
Still not a fan at all.  My hips have been killing me this week, it's been awful.  I also get incredibly hot in the middle of the night and cannot cool down.  Not fun.  I cannot wait until I can sleep flat on my back or stomach again.

Best Moment of the Week:
Finally agreeing 100% on a name and sharing it with others! We were going to wait until he was born but just decided to share anyway when we saw our friends this weekend.

Miss Anything:
Just the usual: pre-baby body, alcohol, sleeping on my back, being comfortable, and raw tuna

Movement:
Yes lots of large movements- I think he's starting to run out of room in there

Food Cravings:
I still like hot and spicy but no crazy cravings

Symptoms:
-Sore hips
-can't tie my shoes without sitting down
-heartburn/indigestion
-getting hot easily
-a huge belly that gets in the way of everything
-my belly has dropped
-my swelling has completely disappeared- I have no idea what I'm doing differently but I'll take it.

Anything making your queasy or sick:
Nothing in particular but my heartburn is still going full force

Have you started to show yet:
Yes

Gender:
Boy!

Labor Signs:
I think I had some braxton hicks contractions over the weekend but I'm not sure.

Belly Button- In or Out?:
It's pretty much flattened out- I don't think it's going to pop out though

Wedding Rings- On or Off?:
On

Happy or Moody?:
Happy! I have been feeling so good this past week.  I'm not sure what it is but I have had a crazy burst of energy and besides the big belly totally feel like myself.  I think it might be nesting kicking in because I have this crazy urge to clean and organize everything.

Looking forward to:
Newborn class this weekend- I'm really hoping that the class will be helpful and teach me some things I don't know and/or can't remember from my babysitting days.

Random Tuesday Brain Dump

- I wish all weekends were 3 days long.  Even though I had to work a little it was still nice to be in the "weekend mindset" for 3 days.

- I had my 36 week appointment today.  Not dilated at all.  That was not something I wanted to hear.  My doctor assured me not to worry that some women can walk around for weeks 2-3cm dilated and not deliver and some women won't be dilated at all and will just suddenly go into labor.  I know I shouldn't worry but I was just hoping for a little something.   Time for more walking and labor inducing google searches.

- My doctor also will not induce a healthy first time mom until you are 2 weeks over due because of the c-section rate at my hospital. (Which is 50% for first time moms that are induced prior to 42 weeks)  That puts me into July.   Baby Boy better make his appearance before July or I'm not sure what I'll do.

-We ordered a new outdoor dining set for our deck, pictured below.  We got it from Home Depot and I can't wait for it to get here.  We've been grilling so much since we bought our new grill last month it will be nice to have a place to eat outside.

- I cannot wait to wear non maternity clothes.  All of the sales over the weekend completely killled me.  I wanted shop the J.Crew Factory 50% off but I just can't justify buying anything when I have no idea what size I'll be or what I will want to wear.

- We finally picked a name for Baby Boy. We've had it picked for awhile but I think we were both scared to say it was 100% for sure.   So I went and ordered something monogrammed.  Now there is not looking back.  I promise to share soon.

- Sometimes I don't want to talk about my pregnancy, babies, nurseries, baby clothes, etc but I feel like it's all anyone wants to talk to me about.    I'm scared of losing my identity to being a Mom.

- I missed the Bachelorette last night, I forgot it was Monday. My husband doesn't think Desiree is pretty.  I think he's crazy.   Did I miss anything good?  Is it worth watching this season?

-Have you all seen Newlyweds: The First Year on Bravo??  I watched way too much of it this weekend. Like all Bravo shows it's awful and amazing at the same time.  Blair is hands down my favorite.  If you haven't seen it you must.

- I think nesting has finally started for me.  It only took all my pregnancy but I've had a crazy bust of energy lately and all I want to do is clean and organize.   I feel this crazy need to just have everything cleaned out and ready.  I hope this feeling lasts for awhile because I have a lot of crap to get through.

Current Obsessions

As my due date approaches I start thinking about all the things I want to buy for ME!  If you've been reading this blog for awhile you know that I LOVE shopping and while I've still gotten to "shop" while I've been pregnant buying maternity clothes is not fun, its more of a neccesity.

Here are some things I have my eye on this summer:

 $380.00
Even though I will probably be carrying a diaper bag all summer I think this would be a great summer tote.   I'm really into nude and white totes right now

$211.00
I know like 100 bloggers have posted this dress but I'm obsessed! I think the loose flowy material would be great post baby. I have a few weddings this summer so I'm considering picking it up as a treat

on sale for $40.99
This dress looks nice and comfortable with plenty of stretch to accommodate my post baby body- I think it would be great for dressing up or down depending on what I'm up to.

$59.50
We are headed to the beach in August and I'm in desperate need of some new beach cover ups.  I'm completely obsessed with this one- I love it in the neon rose and navy

$39.95
I'm in need of a new pool/beach bag this summer and I think this one would be perfect.  It's lightweight but looks like it would be big enough to hold everything I need to carry with me

What's on your summer wish list this year?

35 Weeks!

These are awful and crooked and my bump looks gigantic- my apologies I was in a huge hurry today.
I'm also rocking a pre-baby shirt because 80 degrees here with full humidity so I needed something for work that I wouldn't die in.

How Far Along:
35 weeks 3 days- less than 5 weeks or 32 days!

Baby Size:
Large cantaloupe- approx 19-22 in long and around 5-6lbs

Total weight gain/loss:
Fluctuating around 30-33lbs

Exercise:
I'm still walking 1-2 miles every day and trying to get a long one in on the weekends. If Layla wasn't a crazy energy filled 9 month old puppy I'm not sure I would be doing this so I thank her for forcing me to walk this much! I think the walking is helping with my swelling, my mood, and my sanity! I plan to keep it up as long as I possibly can.

Maternity Clothes:
Yes probably 90% of the time- I can still wear non maternity dresses and yoga pants

Stretch Marks:
So far so good, I'm getting nervous for these last few weeks though

Sleep:
I'm still not a fan of sleeping but I think my body is starting to adjust to the lack of sleep.  I am usually up at least 2-3 times to use the bathroom and then I probably wake up another 2-3 times to change sides because my hips hurt so much.

Best Moment of the Week:
I can't think of one thing in particular but I'm just trying to enjoy these last few weeks of pregnancy and my life as I know it.  I know it's all going to change soon and in some ways I think I'm going to miss feeling Baby Boy's movements.

Miss Anything:
Just the usual: pre-baby body, alcohol, and raw tuna

Movement:
Yes lots of large movements- I think he's starting to run out of room in there

Food Cravings:
I still like hot and spicy but nothing I'm really craving and have to haveI am actually sick of ice cream- I NEVER thought I would say that but I'm not in the mood for it at all.

Symptoms:
-Sore hips
-can't tie my shoes without sitting down
-heartburn/indigestion
-getting hot easily- so happy I'm due in June- I feel for all you August and September mamas- I'm not sure I could make it through the summer heat
-a huge belly that gets in the way of everything
- my swelling has been really good the past week- I've barely had any.  I'm not sure if it's all the walking or my diet but either way I'll take it
-my Mom thinks my belly has dropped a bit- not all the way but she says it looks much lower than it has
Anything making your queasy or sick:
Nothing in particular but my heartburn has been bad- even my prenatal vitamins are giving me heartburn

Have you started to show yet:
Yes

Gender:
Boy!

Labor Signs:
Nope

Belly Button- In or Out?:
It's pretty much flattened out- I don't think it's going to pop out though

Wedding Rings- On or Off?:
On

Happy or Moody?:
Feeling pretty good this week. I've barely had any swelling so I'm not feeling too uncomfortable which is nice.  I've been feeling really good after my walks and I've stopped my ice cream habit which I think is helping.

Looking forward to:
Putting the final touches on the nursery!  I'm waiting on some stuff I've ordered and I picked up a bunch of things this week. I can't wait until it's complete.

Life Recap

Over the weekend we celebrated a big day for our family: Kyle's MBA Graduation!!  I think there was a point where K (and me) were pretty sure his MBA program would never end as the nights and months dragged on but it's now finally over.

I am so incredibly proud of his accomplishment and I can't even begin to fathom how he held it together the past 3 years and especially these past 8 months with a crazy pregnant wife.

Georgetown is such a pretty campus in DC

The graduation took place right on the lawn of Healy Hall.   We couldn't have asked for a prettier day but I will say sitting in the sun in 80 degree weather was HOT!

They provided us with fans which was nice to try to cool off with.

With the graduate!

We followed up graduation with lunch at Bandolero in Georgetown.  It's a small plates Mexican restaurant and it was so good! It was our first time there but I would definitely go back again.

Then I dragged Kyle to Dean and Deluca so I could have my favorite Smores bar- so dangerously delicious!!  It's totally worth it's ridiculous price tag of $5

We had a fence installed last week and it's perfect! I think it adds so much to our house and Layla is loving the opportunity to run free.

We also put together all of our baby items and set them up around the house.  We wanted to get this done sooner rather than later so that Layla would be used to the new "furniture" and "toys".  So far it's been successful and she hasn't had any interest in them.   I will even turn the swing on and play music and she still has no interest.   I know this might change when Baby Boy is here but for now I think it's a good sign.

Someone sent us a wagon so Kyle went ahead and put it together.  It was not easy to put together but it's so cute and can't wait until Baby Boy is old enough to take walks in it.

Only 5 more weeks until my due date!  The countdown is really on!

Shits Getting Real

You guys I have been the worst blogger lately.   I want to blog, I have about 100 things I want to tell you but I'm either too tired to write or I sit down to write and I can't remember anything I want to say.
I love this little baby boy to death but he is stealing ALL of my energy and brain cells.  I pretty much need a nap by 4pm every day and I CANNOT REMEMBER  ANYTHING.
It's getting bad.
- I made an appointment to meet with a client tonight at 6pm, well I'm supposed to be picking up my mother in law from the train station at 6pm- whoops! (Thankfully Kyle is going to pick her up)

- A co-worker asked me if I was free this Friday for lunch and to go over stuff and I said oh yeah it's  free day. Well it's not, tomorrow is Kyle's MBA graduation at 12:30pm- which is why my mother in law is coming into town yet somehow I can't keep track of these important details!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  I hate feeling so out of control. I put things in my calendar but I'm pretty sure I need a reminder for my reminder to check my calendar.

I'm thinking it might have to do with the fact that May felt so far away and now suddenly we're half way through it and I'm starting to panic.  My brain is running in a million circles.

Shits getting real.    My due date is less than 6 weeks away.  While I feel prepared to have this baby ie- I have a crib, a swing, diapers, clothes, bottles, baby books etc.   I'm not sure I'm mentally prepared for how much my life is going to change.  I start to doubt myself.
Don't get me wrong I am so excited for this next chapter and feel so incredibly blessed but it's little things like I will no longer be able to run to Target for a quick trip if I'm out of bread or I can't just meet friends for drinks and dinner after work or the fact that he's going to need to be feed, dressed, nurtured, loved, and cared for every day for the REST OF HIS LIFE!!!!

That's a lot of responsiblity.   Raising a human is terrifying.  Shouldn't I have to pass a national exam or something to see if I'm actually prepared to handle this?!

Sorry guys I just had to vent for a minute.  Anyone else feel this way or have felt this way?

Hoping this will pass soon

Looking forward to:

Nursery Update

I have been hard at work on the nursery for the past few weeks and I'm so excited to finally share some pictures with you.  It is not completely finished yet and we are still lacking some personal touches and art work but I still can't believe how far it's come in the past few weeks.

We moved into our house in February and probably had the crib set up the first few weeks of March but the nursery sat pretty empty like this until late April.

Now it looks like this...

I'm not sure if I will be keeping the bookcase in the corner or not- I'm considering adding picture frame shelves to hold books on that wall behind the rocker to add some dimension to that corner.
What do you all think?

Baby Boy H has so many clothes now!!

Here are some of my favorite items in the nursery:

The Orange Rocker:
I nabbed this orange rocker for $100 at a yard sale!  Once I knew we were having a boy I knew that gray and navy blue would be the nursery colors but I didn't know what accent color I would use. When I found this rocker I just feel in love- even though orange isn't usually a color I gravitate to I knew I had to have this for the nursery!  The price couldn't have been any better and it's completely comfortable.

Jellycat Giraffe Stuffed Animal
This was one of the first gifts I received for Baby Boy H before we even knew he was a boy.  My sister gave me this for Christmas and I remember being so excited about it but still in shock that I was really having a baby.  It just didn't feel real back then.  I hope this is one of his favorite toys as he grows up.

Baby Boy H's Dresser
This dresser is still a work in progress in my garage.  It belonged to my grandmother who passed away in 2006 and sat in her master bedroom for as long as I can remember.  I know she would be so happy to know that it was going into Baby Boy H's nursery.
It's supposed to be a navy blue color and we are currently on paint coat #3 and I think we're going to need at least 4 if not 5 coats of paint!   It's proving to be more work than we planned but there is no going back now.
The dresser will go on the one empty wall that I didn't show you.

So that's my update so far!  I'm about 90% sure I know what I'm doing for artwork but I may change my mind- I know I need to make a decision soon since I have less than 7 weeks left.
