5 Truths, 11 Questions and a Thank You!

**Thank You to everyone who played along on my get to know you post! It's so fun to see people reading my blog locally and all over the US and I love to find out more about people and what you do.  It's crazy how the internet has made this world so small**
I think I'm going to keep doing that every couple of months to get the know everyone and discover new blogs!

I have been tagged recently by a few bloggers so I owe them a post.

The wonderful Natalia over at All the Things, Etc tagged me to share 5 things about myself that you all may not know.   If you don't read her blog you need to go do it now- she's always sharing gorgeous photos and has great style!

Truth One:
I have an obsession with Candy, like a little kid.  I LOVE candy so much. I'm pretty sure I was more excited over Wegman's bulk candy aisle than I was about the prepared food.  Here is the thing though it has to be sugar candy, meaning not chocolate, that I can eat like a snack. Here are my favorites in order: Jelly Belly Sours, Hot Tamales, Skittles, Starburst Jelly Beans, and Haribo Gummy Bears
If I eat chocolate candy then I eat Reese's Minis or Reese's eggs- that is the only chocolate candy I like

Truth Two:
I LOVE Donuts. Specifically Glazed or Blueberry.   Prior to being pregnant I probably treated myself to a donut every few months- lately I will admit that it's probably been monthly if not more.   I prefer my donuts to come from Carlson's in Annapolis but if I can't have that then they have to be from Dunkin Donuts or Safeway.  I'm very specific where I will eat a donut from. I'm not a huge Krispy Kreme fan but will eat them if I have to.

Truth Three:
I consistantly run late.  I try to only be 10-15 minutes late but it usually ends up being 30 minutes. If you want me to be on time tell me it starts 30 mintues before it does.  I know this is an awful trait to have and it's so rude to the people I'm meeting but I just can't help it.  I have no idea how or why it started and I try so hard to break it but it's tough.  My husband also runs late so we are horrible to make plans with.  (I will say with work especially clients I am usually on time)

Truth Four:
I like bananas alone and I like banana bread.  I think the banana flavor is delicious but I cannot stand when people put bananas on top of food and I cannot watch people eating bananas on food. If the banana isn't fully mixed in I cannot eat it.  When I was little my dad would put bananas on his cereal and I would have to get up and eat my breakfast somewhere else or I would have to put a cereal box in front of his bowl so I couldn't see him eating.  Just watching it would make me feel nauseous.  To this day nothing has changed and my husband pretty much hates me because he is never allowed to get a banana dessert if I'm at the table.    I realize I am a freak.

Truth Five:
I curse like a sailor. I'm really bad with dropping F-bombs, I don't even realize I'm doing it. It's probably my favorite expletive to use.  I'm not even sure how often they fall into my vocab but I know it's a lot.  I will admit that I have been much better over the past few months but I'm still bad.

Then Melissa from Raising Twingles tagged me to share 11 random facts and answer 11 questions- since I just shared 5 truths I'm going to just answer the 11 questions.   If you don't read Melissa's blog you must check it out- she has a daughter and then twin boys and her life is never dull with those 3!! She's seriously hysterical.

So here we go....

1. What is your favorite period in history and why? Hmmm I would have to say the 60s, I would have loved to be a hippie. I don't know why I'm just so intrigued by that decade

2. What are your favorite decor magazines?  House Beautiful!

3. Favorite dessert? Apple tart/pie with vanilla ice cream

4. Do you like to cook? And if so, what is your favorite dish? No I hate it but I do it because I have to. I think my favorite thing to cook is turkey tacos

5. What is your least favorite part about your house?  The fact that it still isn't unpacked and we need lots of furniture!

6. Do you like outdoor decorating or gardening at all? Now that I have a yard I really want to get into gardening but I have no idea where to start! Anyone have advice??

7. What is your favorite color to decorate with? Greige- beige and gray- I have a serious problem with neutrals

8.  Do you have any pets? Yes one crazy mini goldendoodle- Layla

9. What is one thing you wish people knew about you? That I'm a lot more fun than I look and I love to have a good time.  Sometimes people see as a Momma Bear type and while I can be like that sometimes I'm usually not at all.

10. Do you like to go out or stay in on a Friday night?  I love going out for happy hour or for dinner but now that I'm pregnant they aren't quite as wild as they used to be but I try to get out as much as I can

11. What is your favorite post on your blog and why?  Wow I don't even know!  Maybe my post about my wedding... I've never really thought about it

This was a long one... if you made it to the end then congratulations and thank you!

Spring Wish List

This is what I woke up to this morning...
and it hasn't stopped yet! This is most snow we've had all year and it's supposed to be spring!

Since I'm desperately wishing for warmer weather here are some items on my spring wish list!

$50.00
I'm dying for a new pair of comfy chic flip flops and these look like they will fit the bill

 $145.00
I have been dying for a white bag this spring/summer.  I know white is totally crazy but I'm just dying to have one which is why I think this will be a good compromise because it isn't too expensive but will fill my need for white

$165.00
I need some tortoise shell/brown lens sunglasses and for some reason I am so drawn to these this year.  I think I'm looking for something classic since I have the wayfayers and aviators  that everyone is wearing and I'm sort of over those.

$39.94
I really want some colored jeans this year.  Since I hate spending a lot of money on clothes I'll only be able to wear a few more months these Old Navy Rockstar jeans are perfect and they come in a huge assortment of colors

$69.00
I was looking for a new sandal but wanted something that was a wedge instead of a heel because the bigger I get I'm not sure how my balance will be.  These are also so comfortable which is why I love Toms.

What's on your spring wish list?  Has spring hit your area yet?

Follow me on Bloglovin and Friday Fun Facts

First off I'm sooooo bitter about Google Reader... so I have converted to Bloglovin and you can follow me with the link below:

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Thankfully Bloglovin has pulled all the blogs I read from Google Reader over so I'm hoping that's all I need to do to keep up with all of you!   (if I'm missing something let me know)

-This Friday came too fast and too slow all at the same time. On Tuesday I couldn't wait until Friday and then yesterday I was like how is tomorrow Friday I'm not ready yet.

-I could really use a HUGE glass of wine tonight, clearly thats not happening.  Instead I treated myself to some donuts and decaf coffee

-I absolutely love my puppy to the point that I have become a crazy dog mom but at the same time I had no idea how much work a puppy really is.  Layla is so sweet and loving but has so much energy and needs to be entertained 24/7 or she's getting into trouble.  Chewing socks, shoes, underwear, makeup brushes, toilet paper, etc, etc, etc.   I just like to think this is prepping me for having a baby.

-Pregnancy brain is REAL.  I will admit that I used to judge the pregnant girls I worked with when they would continually screw up and be like oh pregnancy brain. All I could think was wow what an excuse.  Well now that I'm there I will admit I was wrong and it does exist.
- I put my Uggs on the wrong feet and didn't realize it until I tried to walk
- I continually put my cereal away in the fridge
- I have become dyslexic with numbers and contantly switch up addresses. Which doesn't work when my job requires me to go to houses all day long. It also makes me look like an asshole when I program my navigation and then realize when I'm there that I'm at the wrong place.
-I put gas in my car yesterday and never put the gas cap back on or shut the door and just drove around like that for half the day
-I can never remember to do anything. I'm do the point of putting everything in my iphone calendar, in my planner and then setting 10 reminders on my phone for each thing and I still some how forget.  It's so frustrating.

-I'm so happy spring is here I just wish Maryland's weather would realize that and warm up

-I'm going shopping in Georgetown tomorrow with some girlfriends and than having lunch on the waterfront at Farmers Fishers Bakers  which I'm so excited to try.  I'm hoping that high of 52 is true so we can enjoy walking around outside and not freeze.

-I'm hoping to use this weekend to finally finish our unpacking.  I've decide that I need to have a blog sale because I have too many clothes and we need to have a yard sale because I have just as much house stuff that I need to get rid of

TGIF!! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  How was everyone's weekend?

This past weekend consisted of a lot of eating.  I'm pretty sure I gained a good 10lbs with all the food I consumed!

Kyle was at a bachelor party this weekend so Friday night my sister and I met my parents at the Annapolis Yacht Club.  It's one of my most favorite places to eat in Annapolis.  Their food is always amazing!

I have completely failed on giving up sweets for lent.  I'm sorry but since I can't drink I totally need something else to reward myself with.   I got the skillet chocolate chip cookie- which I shared with my Dad.  It was probably the best dessert I've ever had.

Saturday morning started off just as bad as I left Friday night with a short stack of pancakes from The Breakfast Shoppe- which never disappoints.

To continue on our weekend surrounded by eating we decided we needed sushi on Saturday night.   We stumbled upon a sushi restaurant called Otani that was literally a mile from my old house that I never ever tried in the 4.5 years I lived there!  Let's just say I'm an idiot and it may have been the best sushi I've ever had in my entire life!
Since I have to eat fully cooked fish I got a shrimp tempura roll and then the most amazing roll ever called the Ocean roll.  It was SO GOOD!  It's a special roll not on their regular menu and I'm so glad I asked for cooked roll suggestions.  I will continue to eat this roll even when I can have raw fish again.

My sister got the Playboy roll which came out on a flaming plate.

She said it was amazing and some of the best sushi she's ever had!!   We are officially hooked on this place and going back this Friday night.

After dinner we watched Breaking Dawn Part 2- have you all seen it?  I was sort of disappointed and thought it felted really rushed.   Anyone agree?

On Sunday I drove up to PA for my nephew's baptism.

It was so good to catch up and see Kyle's side of the family.

With my sister in laws and my niece.

My sweet nephew Blake

It was nice to have a weekend to eat good food and visit family without having to worry about working!

Did you all do anything fun this weekend?

Maternity Fashion: My Must Have Items

Now that I am well into my second trimester and only a few weeks away from my third I thought I would share with you all some maternity clothes that I have loved over the past few weeks and will hopefully take me well into my last trimester.

The hardest part about maternity shopping is that you can't start too soon because you're just going to get bigger so what fits at 20 weeks might be too small by 30 weeks, so I've been very cautious and I've been trying to buy things I'll grow into.

$12.99 each- wore these even when I wasn't pregnant because they're so comfortable and long enough to cover my long torso.
I am obsessed with these tank tops! I am tall and have a long torso so finding long enough tank tops is tough as it is but even harder with a growing belly.   This is a great piece to wear under as a shirt as a camisole, to wear alone to work out, or to wear out with a cardigan. It doesn't have the scrunched sides so it  looks like a regular tank top.   I will probably continue to wear these even after I'm not pregnant.   I have it in white, black, coral, and plum.  The bonus- they are cheap- but not cheaply made.

$24.98- currently buy one get one 50% off!! I have two  pairs of these and lived in them during my pregnancy. They are perfect with a long tank and oversized sweater
I wondered into Motherhood Maternity when I was about 20 weeks pregnant and they happened to be having a buy one, get one free sale on these leggings.  On a whim I decided to pick them up and I LOVE them!  They are not very thick but they totally get the job done.  I have worn them under dresses, alone with tanks and big cardigans, I worn them working out, etc.  The have the full belly panel which I know some people hate but I love it because I don't like things pushing too hard into my belly.

$24.99- they still sell this but have limited sizes left. This is a great work staple especially going into fall/winter.
I was lucky enough to be given some maternity clothes from my sister in law and this dress happened to be in the pile.  My favorite part about this dress is that it doesn't scream maternity dress and it's super comfortable.   I have it in a size medium and it fits me now with plenty of room to keep growing but it doesn't look to big.  I would recommend this dress to all my pregnant friends.

$54.95- LOVED these pants and lived in these for my whole pregnancy and even afterwards. They are really flattering and don't look like maternity pants at all.

I first discovered these pants when I saw my sister in law wearing these last fall. They looked so great on her and didn't look like maternity pants at all.  I finally picked up a pair last week now that the weather is warming up around here and I have no compliants! I think I've worn them four times already.  They are a nice material that works during this in between weather but won't be too heavy come June.   The do have a demi panel but I've found that Gap's demi panel is nice and thick and doesn't cut into my bump.

**I didn't see these on the site anymore but I loved that these sat under my belly and never had a problem  with them getting too tight, even at the end.

My mom gave me these jeans for my birthday and they've pretty much been my go-to ever since.  They are much lighter than normal jean material- probably similar to jeggings and they are so comfy!  The are the stretch pocket version so they sit under my belly now but I haven't found them uncomfortable at all.

That's my best advice so far! I have a feeling as my belly gets bigger the next few weeks I'm have some more opinions and most clothing options that will become by go to- especially once the weather warms up.

Baby Registry: Part 1

When I was first pregnant I found the idea of registering exciting and could only imagine it being like registering for my wedding.

When the reality set in that I was registering for items that might be key to another human's survival and not just stuff that would look pretty in my china cabinet, it got real.
I then found registering to be overwhelming. Very overwhelming. So I decided to just take it slow start researching so that I was fully prepared when I finally pulled the trigger, which was just last week.

I started my research first by asking my friends, family, and fellow bloggers what were some of there life saving/go to baby products.  I then started my own online research and visiting the big box baby stores.

Here are some of the big items that I have on our registry:

One of the main reasons I was drawn to this car seat is because of the basic colors it comes in.  One of the hardest parts about baby items for me has been all the colors and patterns- I'm a neutral girl- so I was looking for something that offered simple colors and had high safety ratings.  It also had to be reasonably light to carry and not break the bank.   I narrowed my search down to this and the Graco Snugride 35 and after researching both of these options and seeing them in person at the store I knew the Chicco KeyFit 30 would be it.

I have heard amazing things about the Baby Jogger brand of strollers and was initially set on the City Select model since it can eventually be used for two kids.  After looking at both of the options in store I decided that the City Select might be too much for us right now, while it is a very functional stroller it's much heavier and pricier than the City Versa and I don't need the two child option right now.    The number one thing that got me about this one is that the seat can be turned so that the baby can be facing mom when you walk which I love.  It also has a bassinet option when the baby is still small and can't sit up which we are considering.  If we don't get the bassinet there is a car seat adapter which we can use to attach our car seat to the stroller until the baby is big enough to sit up on their own.    (I also researched the City Mini and City Mini GT and to be honest we have not ruled those out just yet but so far this one is the clear winner)

I feel like I'm on repeat here but I have heard amazing things about the ERGObaby Baby carrier.  This carrier gives you the 3-1 option meaning you can carry the baby  1. On the front or tummy to tummy, as they call it, 2. On your back (once they are stronger and can hold up their head), 3. In the hip position.  The carrier also supports the baby's hips and spine which was the main thing that really drew me to it, as I've heard horrible stories about other carriers giving babies hip dysplasia.

Quite a few of my friends suggested that when I register for a Pack N Play to make sure that it has the changer option on it, which I did.  They said you don't want to have to go up and down the stairs to change the baby plus since Kyle and I are tall getting up and down off the floor to change the baby sounded miserable.  Especially in the beginning while I'm recovering.  I opted to get the newborn napper option also.  Since we plan to keep the Pack N Play in our family room I thought the napper might be a good idea for naps in the beginning- will it work, I don't know yet but I figure we will give it a try

Does anyone have any advice or can you think of anything I'm missing from these items?

To not drown you in baby items I will be breaking this down into a few parts so stay tuned for more next week.

24 Weeks!

As you can see I have yet to pick up my picture game... maybe once my house is unpacked and organized

How Far Along:
24 weeks- only 16 weeks to go!

Baby Size:
Eggplant- Baby is approximately 9 inches long and weighs 1.7lbs

Total weight gain/loss:
18lbs-  after my appointment last week my doctor suggested I start weighing myself at home, since I usually have late afternoon appts she said I might be weighing more than I actually do on their scale.  So I broke out my scale and it was actually only 18lbs(!!!) and I'm holding steady this week with it. Again I'm not super concerned but I am going to weigh myself once a week to start tracking

Maternity Clothes:
Pants yes, Dresses pretty much yes, and I can still pull off some pre-pregnancy shirts.  They're starting to get pretty short though

Stretch Marks:
No and hoping it stays that way!

Sleep:
Ugh sleep has been horrible this week. First off I have a cold- which is a whole other awful story during pregnancy and my hips are killing me again when I sleep on my side.  I hoping once I kick this cold it will get better

Best Moment of the Week:
The crib is here! It's still sitting in it's box but it's all starting to feel more real

Miss Anything:
Nothing this week

Movement:
Yes he is one active boy- he has also been doing a lot of flips and punches this week instead of his usual kicks

Food Cravings:
Milk still but I have been loving Cinnamon this week.  I'm a huge cinnamon lover anyway so I'm not sure if this is a pregnancy craving or not

Symptoms:
Indigestion has started! Yuck! I have found if I'm careful with what I eat I don't get it

Anything making your queasy or sick:
Nope

Have you started to show yet:
Yes

Gender:
Boy!

Labor Signs:
No

Belly Button- In or Out?:
In but getting shallow

Wedding Rings- On or Off?:
On

Happy or Moody?:
Happy most of the time

Looking forward to:
Finishing the unpacking of our house and starting to work on the nursery

Baby Boy H's Nursery Design

Before I knew whether I was having a boy or a girl I had a pretty good idea of how I wanted to design the nursery for either one.

For a boy I knew I wanted the nursery to be simple and clean.  I did not want it to scream baby boy with the traditional pale blues.   I wanted it to be sophisticated but not too sophisticated that I felt like it wouldn't work for a baby.

Here are some of the inspiration photos I pinned:

Jenna Lyon's of J.Crew nursery- one of my all time faves!

 via

The main colors I planned to work with were gray, white, and navy.   I knew I wanted a "pop of color" but I wasn't sure yet what that color was.  I was intially leaning toward yellow or red but then I came across a bright orange rocker that I fell in love with.

Here is my inspiration board for the nursery:

1. Pottery Barn Kendall Fixed Gate Crib in Simply White-  I never intended to purchase a PB crib.  While I love their furniture I was leaning toward a more moden looking crib as seen in the first and third photo.  After a lot of online searching including Pinterest, blogs, and furniture sites I just kept coming back to this classic crib and knew it had to be mine.

2. Pottery Barn Harper Bedding in Navy Blue- I also had no intention of buying baby bedding from PB but once I saw the Harper bedding set in navy I knew it had to be mine.  I haven't purchased it yet but this is what I'm planning around.

3. Wall Color- Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray-  The nursery isn't huge so I wanted a light color on the walls and I knew I wanted gray.  Gray is the hardest color to choose! Every gray swatch I tried was too gray or too green except for Stonington Gray

4. Dresser Color- Benjamin Moore Hale Navy- I have an antique solid wood dresser that belonged to my Gigi (my dad's mom).  Gigi passed away in 2006 and I inherited her dresser.  I knew immediately when I received this piece of furniture that it would be in my baby's nursery one day no matter what.   We are going to paint the dresser navy blue and put new knobs on it.

5. Pottery Barn Rugby Stripe Blackout Panel- I'm leaning toward sriped curtains and I think these might be it

6. Minted Nursery Art- I'm still on the search for artwork but Minted.com has some great nursery opitons.  I want to make sure the art work I pick is cute and works well in a nursery

7. Orange Slip Covered Rocker-  I scored this great orange slip covered rocker from a yard sale in my new neighborhood.  It was only $100- which is a steal for a rocker! The back is tall enough for both me and Kyle (which is  a must ) and the rocker itself has a small footprint so it won't take up too much room in the nursery

8. Pottery Barn Ultimate Changing Table- I know a lot of people are using dressers in place of changing tables but I knew that I definitely wanted a defined area for diaper changing and I didn't want anything too bulky.   This is the one I've been drawn too- but I'm open to suggestions. Does anyone have a changing table they recommend?

This is just the beginning of the nursery and I still have some essentials that we will need to add. I promise to add progress pictures as we work on it.   If anyone has advice of items I need/don't need for the nursery I would love to hear.

23 Weeks!

My sister told me I need to step up my picture game- she said I look angry and they're always crooked. I'm hoping to convince my husband to take a cute one of me this weekend for 24 weeks.

How far along? 23 weeks
Baby Size: Ear of Corn- baby is about 8.5 inches and weighs 1.5lbs
Total weight gain/loss: 20lbs at my last appt. It was also a late afternoon appt so I think that added a few pounds on but at the same time I'm totally ok with it.
Maternity clothes? Pants yes, dresses pretty much, shirts I can still pull off my pre-baby ones
Stretch marks? No and hoping it stays that way
Sleep:   It's been ok- ever since we moved Layla has to sleep on our bed touching one of us and she's been waking up around 4am so that has not been helping with my tiredness
Best moment this week:  I registered!  Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby were totally overwhelming but it feels good to have that box checked
Miss Anything?  I do miss working out at the level I used to.  I've been trying to walk 1-2 miles a day but that feels nothing like a good hard run after a stressful day. I prefer high impact over low impact workouts
Movement: Yes- this is one active baby boy- I feel him all the time now
Food cravings: Still milk- I have a bowl of cereal a day

Symptoms: My boobs! OMG these things are out of control.  They pretty much just appeared in the past 2 weeks.  I have always been an A and now I am suddenly a C- I have no idea what to do with them
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Not this week
Have you started to show yet: Yes
Gender prediction: Boy!!
 Labor Signs:  No
Belly Button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!
Looking forward to: Finishing our unpacking and organizing this weekend.  I think nesting has fully kicked in- I am just dying to get this house organized
