Beautycounter Update: What I'm Currently Loving

If you've followed here awhile you know that I started incorporating Beautycounter products into my beauty routine about two years ago.  I wrote my first post about what I loved and didn't love here.  If you're not familiar with Beautycounter or what their mission is you can read more here.  They are not only a beauty company but they are also on a mission to get our government to put more regulations on chemicals in personal care products.  Their Never List is what really got me looking into more natural safe products.  The never list is 1500 chemicals that they never use in their products, and to top it off most of these chemicals are banned in Europe but allowed here in the USA.

After falling in love with so many of their products I decided to sign up as a consultant.  I promise that everything I promote on here is something that I have truly tried and love! I'm always honest with you all and I will tell if you there are any products I love or hate ;)

Since switching most of my products to Beautycounter I'm shocked at how much better my skin looks. I will tell you I have always loved their makeup but was weary of the skincare but I was so wrong! Since making the switch most of my hormonal acne is gone and the texture of my skin is improving.  I know skin care isn't an overnight thing and I'm so happy with my results after almost three months using it.

Morning Skin Care Routine:

Nourishing Cream Cleanser- I posted about this last year and still love this cleanser! It leaves your skin feeling clean but not dried out which is so important for me in the winter months when my skin is extra dry.

Countermatch Intense Moisture Serum-  I fell in love with serums last year and this one does not disappoint.  If anything I wish BC had more serum options.  My skin is super dry in the winter and I always need an extra boost in addition to moisturizer.  This serum is loaded with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C & E to help the skin retain moisture and fight free radicals.

Countermatch Adaptive Moisturizer- this is a lightweight lotion which I layer over the serum that actually adjusts hydration levels through out the day to keep your skin moisturized.  Personally I can't use this alone in the winter because it's too light but once layered over the countermatch serum it's perfect.  The bonus is that it doesn't break my face out at all! Which is huge for me, since I've dealt with acne pretty much my whole life.

Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream- I'm obsessed with this eye cream! I unfortunately have bad genes and have dark circles and some puffiness from my allergies that can't be fixed with a cream.   So I try my best to keep my under eye area moisturized to help reduce any puffiness and creasing from when I use ALL the concealer ;)

Nighttime Skin Care Routine:

Cleansing Balm- I didn't originally love the cleansing balm but I've fallen in love with it over the past few months.  If I use this cleanser I only use it at night to help take off my makeup and give my face the extra moisture boost it needs.  I usually swap this one and the nourishing cream cleanser depending on how my skin feels that day.

Overnight Resurfacing Peel- I posted about this last week but I'm obsessed with this peel! It is gentle enough to be used every night if you want (I usually do 4-5x a week) but effective enough to really get rid of dead skin and help turn over your skin cells for fresh skin in the morning without making your face too red or peeling.  I top this with the Countermatch recovery sleeping cream and my skin is baby soft in the morning.

Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream- use this morning and night to help keep my eyes moisturized.

Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream- I use this nightly with or without the overnight resurfacing peel before hand. Again it's packed with two kinds hyaluronic acid to really give your face a moisture boost it needs at the end of the day.  I used to hate night creams because they always made my face break out but this one doesn't do that. I'm still kind of shocked at how much success I've had with it and I love how soft and moisturized my skin feels when I wake up in the mornings.

Make Up Favorites:

Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer- I was hesitant to try this because I've recently felt like I need more coverage than a tinted moisturizer but I was so wrong.  I LOVE this stuff! If you're looking for something lightweight for everyday use this is perfect.  I've been wearing shade #2 which is a little bit darker than my winter skin color but blends in really well and gives me a nice boost of color in the winter months.  I actually use my fingers to apply this because I feel like I can really get it blended into my skin better.

Tint Skin Foundation- If I'm looking for more coverage or have a night out I will reach for the tint skin foundation.  I would call this a medium coverage foundation.  I wear the linen in the winter and will sometimes mix this with the Dew Skin if I want something in the middle of the two.  Despite the color options being limited I've found this foundation to be very blendable.

Touchup Concealer Pen- LOVE this concealer! I use the fair under my eyes to help them pop since they're so dark and use the light on blemishes on my skin that need covering.  It blends in so well.

Satin Powder Blush-  I love this blush.  I'm currently using the melon color but wish I had bought the date to use for winter. I may still pick it up to use until spring is really here.

Radiant All Over Bronzer- This is my new favorite bronzer. I have dune and cabana and I actually like cabana more on myself.  I don't use bronzer a ton in the winter unless I'm going out but love it in the spring and summer to give that sun kissed glow.

Color Outline Eye Pencil- I use this eyeliner every day in black.  It's a great daily eyeliner and goes on easily and smudges/blends well as needed.  I wouldn't say this is a super long lasting eyeliner and if I have an event where I really want eyeliner to stay I'll go back to my trusty Almay 16 hour wear eyeliner ;)

Velvet Eyeshadow Palette- Classic- I've reviewed this palette on my instastories but I love the classic options of this palette.  This was my go to palette all fall and holiday season. I used the ivory and Sahara color pretty much daily.  Then loved the sable or cinnamon when I wanted more color or a smokey eye.

Necessary Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette-  I'm so happy I finally picked up this palette when it was on sale last month.  It's made me break out of my beige/brown eye shadow routine so much! Since I have brown eyes I tend to lean toward those colors but I'm found myself using the blush, slipper, and haze more than I ever imagined I would.  I would never pick up pinkish colors on their own but since trying out all the colors in the palette these are the ones I love best.

Sheer Lipstick- I cannot tell you how much I love this lipstick! I've talked about it many times before and pretty much love every color I have.  My current favorite every day colors are twig, petal, and lily. Plum is an awesome winter color and I love poppy or rose when I want something a little more red.  I just ordered orchid and can't wait to try it.

Lip Gloss- This is another everyday option for me. Peony, bare shimmer, and magnolia shimmer (from the mini lip gloss vault) are  are my everyday go tos.  I tend to reach for lip gloss more than lipstick when I'm on the go in my yoga pants or leaving the gym. It helps me feel a little bit more put together without feeling over the top ;)

Color Intense Lipstick-  I've only tried two colors of this but these are definitely darker and last longer than the sheer lipstick.  Brunch is a really great neutral for blondes without being too brown and garden party is really fun for a night out or summer time.  Next on my list to try is 9 to 5.

Phew that was a long one! Lot of information to share but I wanted to try to get my favorite all into one post.

Have you tried Beautycounter yet?  Are there ways you've been trying to swap out your old make up for cleaner favorites?

  2. Thanks for recommending these Beautycounter products Natalie,

I’m glad you point out the disparity in regulations between the US and the EU. I really love Beautycounter’s ‘Never List’ philosophy. I think choosing clean ingredients is most important for lip products because we ingest them!

I love the sound of the moisturizing Sheer lipstick. I had a quick look at the Sheer lipstick range ingredients - I have to say I’m impressed! They don’t contain beeswax, carmine (crushed bugs), or lanolin oil (sheep glands) - unlike a lot of lipsticks. Great for vegans! The Lily and Petal shades are really pretty too.

For any readers looking to go natural (or vegan), we recently posted a piece exposing some lip product ingredients to avoid.

Thanks again for sharing your Beautycounter faves,

    Laura.
