Black Friday Sales: J.Crew, Old Navy, and my Favorite Booties

So apparently Black Friday now takes place all week and online too :)  For me this is a win because I was never one of those wait in line at 5:00am for a sale type of people, so if I can shop from my house with a big cup of coffee or a big glass of wine then I'm a happy camper!

I know everyone is bombarding you with all the sales this week but I've rounded up some of my favorites from my favorite places to share with you.

J.Crew is offering 40% off most everything with 30% off items that are never on sale such as that cashmere scarf below!!  Use the code Holiday

J.Crew Black Friday

Then my favorite go-to right now Old Navy is offering 60%, 50% or 40% off all items! There are some new arrivals I've been drooling over and right now would be a great time to snatch them up.

Old Navy Black Friday

This is a sale you do not want to miss!! One of favorite booties, the Rag & Bone Newbury bootie, are on major sale!!

They retail for $525 but are on sale for $250 and with the code BF25 you can get them down to $187!  I've bought all my R&B booties on sale and they are so worth it.

Don't forget the Shopbop sale and J.Crew Factory sale I linked to on Tuesday here

Are you shopping any Black Friday sales?  Do you go to the stores early or are you avoiding the chaos and shopping online?

Feeling Thankful

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have plans to share this holiday with friends and family you love.  I hope you get to eat too much turkey, and drink too much wine and then eat even more apple pie.  That's my plan at least ;)  2015 has been a pretty great year for us and I try to remind myself to be thankful everyday for my blessings but most especially on Thanksgiving when surrounded by family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving Friends!

Huge Shopbop Sale, J.Crew Factory Loves, and Sugar Paper for Target Holiday

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I wish I had a fun life lately post for you all but we've been stuck inside since last Wednesday battling some sort of virus turned nasty cold at our house.  So naturally while the boys recover I online shop :)  Since this is Black Friday week (remember when it was just a day?!) the sales do not disappoint and do I have some good ones for you today!

First off it's the Shopbop Buy more, save more sale!  The more you spend the bigger discount you get.  This is the perfect time to buy all those things you've been lusting over but haven't bought yet!

*brand exclusions may apply see more details here

I've rounded up my favorites below:

Shopbop, Buy more, Save more

It's going to take all my self control not to buy all of it!  Have you had your eye on anything at Shopbop lately?  I think the Spendid off the shoulder top, Sam Edelman Dea pumps, and the Mother skinny flare jeans are on my must buy list.  I also love that Nixon watch and could really use a new one.  You can never go wrong with the Clare V leopard clutch.

You all know how much I love J.Crew factory and they have a pre-black Friday sale of 50% off everything online and in stores plus free shipping on $50 or more.  Use the code SHOPGIFTS
The deal ends today so make sure to take advantage of it.

Here are the ones I couldn't pass up:

You know I've raved about this skirt for years and since I already bought it in the poppy grove I couldn't resist the barn red plaid!  Paired with a black sweater or button down-perfect for the holidays.

I've been having a red moment lately and I can't get this sweater off my mind.

How comfy does this sweater look?! It just feels so cozy for the winter. It's apparently a tunic so fingers crossed it's long enough to wear with leggings.

This necklace. Heart eyes emoji.  My mom had the retail version of this last year put paid well over $100 for it and this one is only $34.50 right now!

Could this winter hat be any cuter?  How could I pass up the faux fur pom-pom?

I didn't buy these because I still love my leopard pumps I've owned for years but if anyone is in the market for some these would be perfect!!  I think leopard pumps are classic.

Have you all seen the Sugar Paper for Target Holiday gift wrap selection?!?!  It's taken all my self control not to buy every.single.thing from there.  It's what wrapping dreams are made of.

Untitled #112

I was so scared of it all selling out when it appeared in my Target a few weeks ago I grabbed a bunch of wrapping paper and tags!  The hats and gloves are just so cute.  I might get a little bit more today before it's all gone this weekend after shopping craziness.

Are you shopping any Black Friday sales this year? Have your eye on anything in particular?

Five on Friday

Happy Friday Everyone!  It's been so long since I did one of these posts I decided it was time again since I had some things to share with you.

Here are five things I'm loving this week:

1. This Show

Does anyone else watch The Affair?  We got hooked on it last season and this season is even better!! If you're looking for a good new show you need to give it a try.  It's on Showtime and they show the stories happening from different people's perspectives.  It's so interesting to see how people remember this differently.

2. This Creamer

Coffee-mate Gingerbread Coffee Creamer
This is my current new favorite creamer.  I'm usually pretty loyal to my pumpkin spice in the fall and then peppermint mocha around the holidays but I wanted something different.  This year I picked up the gingerbread and it's my new favorite!  I know these creamers aren't that good for you but they're my little indulgence during the day ;)

3. This Poncho
How cute and comfy does this poncho look?! It also comes in gray and I can't decide which color I like best.  I just think this would be perfect for snuggling up in this winter.

4. This Book

This is my current book of the week and so far I'm loving it.  Betty Halbreich is the legendary personal shopper from Bergdorf Goodman who worked their for nearly 40 years there and pretty much invented personal shopping as a job.  It's also a autobiograpy on her life before BG and it's been interesting to see how she go there.

5. This Recipe

not my picture, just one from the website

I had some leftover pesto and chicken that needed to be cooked so I did some googling and came across this recipe.

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
1⁄2 cup refrigerated basil pesto
2 -3 plum tomatoes, sliced (optional)
1⁄2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Line baking sheet with heavy-duty foil.
Place chicken and pesto in medium bowl; toss to coat.
Place chicken on prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink in center.
Remove from oven; top with tomatoes and cheese.
Bake for an additional 3-5 minutes or until cheese is melted.

I didn't end up topping mine with melted cheese but I think that would have made it even better.  I'm just trying not to eat too much dairy lately.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Thoughts for Thursday: Closet Space Organization Help!

Happy Thursday! Just a reminder we will not be doing TfT next week since it's Thanksgiving! Hope you all have fun plans with your families.

After three months of living in our new house I finally got around to organizing our master bedroom closet.  I spent nap time last week cleaning it out, moving summer clothes to storage, and getting rid of things I never wear.  While it feels much better I still don't feel like it's totally organized and I need some help.

What do you all do with your jeans?  Do you hang them up?  I used to hang mine up but then I ran out of closet space at our old house so I started folding them on the shelf.   I'm thinking of hanging them again.

How do you store handbags? If you have designer bags do you keep them in their dust bags?

How about shoes?  The shoes I currently wear are in the shoe rack and on the shelves.  My summer shoes and special occasion shoes are in boxes on the floor but this feels cluttered to me.

Here is a look at our closet, mostly just my side though because Kyle's is unorganized.  I had the hardest time photographing it with the lighting so bear with me :)
Here is what you see when you walk in.  As I mentioned I keep summer/special occasion shoes in the shoe boxes on the floor. The shelf has handbags, jeans, sweaters, and sweatshirts.  It's looking so bare because I just cleaned out so many I didn't need.

I organize my closet by item type.  The back is jackets, vest, hanging sweaters, and blouses.   Then shoes then on the right side closest to the door it's cotton shirts, tunics, button downs, skirts and dresses.

Here is how I keep my shoes lined up now.  Would you keep shoes on these shelves?

Longchamp bags, jackets, vest, sweaters, and blouses.

Here is a shot from inside the closet showing part of Kyle's stuff.  I have a lot of space to work with but I'm not really sure where to go from here.

Would love to hear any and all organization tips?!  I feel like this closet has so much potential that we aren't using.

Old Navy Hits and Misses

Happy Tuesday Everyone!  I don't know about you all but I always find stuff at Old Navy that I love online or on other people but rarely looks good on me.  My sister has amazing luck at Old Navy and I feel like I have luck every once in awhile.    The ON happens to be right next to my Target so I pop in there often but it's been a few months since I've been in.  Since I've been browsing the website over the past few weeks and stuff looked so good I had to try some stuff on.

I'm happy to say I was actually successful! I feel like I was able to really find a lot of good "mom friendly chic" clothes as I like to call them.  Meaning I can run errands and go to playdates in them and feel cute but not too dressed up.   As usual I had some misses so I figured I would share with you all.   For reference I'm 5'9" and size small/medium top (I'm pretty flat chested ;)  and 6/8 bottoms.

I forgot to mention earlier that Old Navy is having 40% off and 3 day free shipping with the code RUSH so take advantage of it while you can!

Obsessed with this sweater!! I picked it up in the black stripe but I'm going to order the gray stripe online.  I wish they made it in a solid black color because it would be perfect.  Long enough to be worn with skinny jeans and possibly leggings.

The picture doesn't really do this sweater justice.  It looks much better in person.  I have a long torso and I could easily wear this with leggings if I wanted.  The v neck looks like it could be a little deep on certain people but it's easy to layer a tank or shirt underneath.   Super soft and comfy too!

I'm not even going to pretend, this looked so ugly on the hanger.   I actually just grabbed it to try under a poncho but ended up loving it!   The length is great and could be worn with leggings if you want.  I think it's perfect for laying under ponchos, vests, or sweaters but would probably be a little thin to wear on it's own depending on where you live.

I picked up one of these in black and light gray to layer with my over-sized cardigan sweaters this winter.  I have been hunting for shirts that are long enough and these are perfect!  Plus the cotton is so soft and lays well.

This vest is my new favorite vest.  As much as I love my J.Crew Excursion vests they can be a little thin in the winter but this one is warm and cozy so I see myself getting a ton of wear out of it.

Looking for a new scarf but don't want to get eaten by a blanket scarf?!  Then grab this one!  I love the green plaid for something a little different and it's more of a true scarf than a blanket scarf so it's not as much material to fold and configure but still cute.  Also it's only $14

I have been looking for this exact scarf for a couple of years now.  My sister has one like this from a local boutique and I've never been able to find one close enough until now.  This ON one is perfect and so soft.  No itchy material here!  They have it in so many colors I might add a gray and black one to my collection.

Love love love these!! They are cute and flattering and look great for the gym or just running errands.  ON Active wear has gotten so good over the past few years.

It wasn't all sunshine and roses and I ran into a few pieces that I wanted to love but they just didn't look right on me.

This shirt looks so cute on everyone else but me! I was so sad to finally try it on only to discover it just looked all wrong.  It was way to wide across the chest in the small but the xsmall was too tight on my shoulders.  It was perfect otherwise and would probably work if you're more blessed than me in the boob department.

I loved this one so much and wanted it to look cute on me.  I took it off and put it on at least three times but it just didn't work.  It wasn't long enough on me and it was too boxy.   I feel like it would work well for someone around medium height.  It's oversized so you definitely need to size down.

Since I loved the sleeveless version of this top I thought I would love the longsleeve too but it was kind of blah. The sleeves were a little loose on me but they're made of stretchy material so it looked weird and after I pushed them up like the model above did they were all stretched out looking.  I mean the shirt is only $10 so you can't really expect much but was hoping I had found something good.

I am not a mock turtleneck person.  If you are then run out and buy this poncho because everything about it is perfect.  I just cannot pull off the mock neck.  It doesn't work for me which was so disappointing because it really is so cute.  Would be great with leggings and boots this winter.

Do you shop at Old Navy?  Do you have luck there?   Anything you love or hate about Old Navy?

*this post was not sponsored in anyway by Old Navy I just like to share my honest opinions about clothes I love and hate :)

Baby Matthew: 12 Months Old and Our Baby Favorites

My baby is officially a toddler.  I feel like almost crying writing this because I'm pretty sure I was just writing this post to you all five minutes ago.   The first year of a child's life brings so many crazy changes and experiencing it the second time around was just as exciting (and many times easier) than the first.
Every little milestone he hits is so bittersweet.  He's waving and clapping and pulling up and toddling after his brother.  I love all of it and it all makes me so sad.  Even though he still loves for me to hold him and snuggle him and feed him his bottle.  I know he will soon be running away from me chasing his brother on the playground.  It's also hard because Matthew might be my last baby.  I don't know if we'll have a third, or if I could honestly handle a third,  so I try to remind myself to savior all these little baby moments in case this is it for me.

Weight: 20lbs 12oz (25%)
Height: 31in (90%)
Head circumference: 47 centimeters (75%)
Pretty much the exact same stats as Miller at one!  My babies are long and lean.  Matthew only weighs 4lbs less than Miller right now but Miller has at least 8in on him :)

Diet:  You still drink 3 or 4 8oz bottles a day of formula. We have trying to get you onto regular milk but you are fighting us tooth and nail. For some reason you hate it.  Which I don't understand because formula smells so gross.  My newest trick is to do a 7oz formula bottle with a "splash" of milk.  You are nothing like your brother and while you enjoy real people food you don't love it as much as he did.  At this point Miller ate 3 solid meals a day and two snacks.  You always eat breakfast and dinner but could take or leave lunch.  I try to give you at least 2 snacks a day in addition to your meals and again you could take it or leave it.  The doctor said not to stress yet and to just keep offering it to you as often as possible.

Favorite foods:  blueberry waffles, shredded cheese, chicken, ravioli, baked ziti,  cheese/chicken quesadilla, sweet potatoes, toast with butter, peanut butter sandwiches, and apple sauce.  You also eat an assortment of baby pouches with fruits and veggies.

Clothes:  You are wearing mostly 18 month clothes and Mommy is kicking herself because she bought you a few Christmas outfits in 12 months not thinking!  I'm currently trying to find ways to make it work :)  The good side of that is since your brother was so tiny you are wearing most of his clothes from last winter! Yay! You wear size 4 diapers and we are big Huggies fans around here.  You are currently in size 4 shoes.

Health:  Fingers crossed your health has been great lately!! We got flu shots so I'm hoping we can avoid most of the nasty germs this winter.

Mood:  You are still the happiest, most laid back baby!  You are so easy to take everywhere and rarely get angry or upset with us.   When you do get upset though you are very upset and much harder to calm down.  You are sensitive and your feelings seem to get hurt more than Miller's ever did at this age.  You also always need mommy to snuggle you after any and all boo-boos.

Likes: books especially pop up books,  dogs, pushing trucks around,  playing with your brother, going on walks, playing outside, drinking out of sippy cups like a big boy, and hanging out with daddy

Dislikes: bananas, your car seat, being strapped into anything, getting your diaper changed, not going outside, being told no

Sleep:  You are the best sleeper and after Miller (who still sucks at sleeping) I thank God every day for blessing me with a good sleeper.  You take 1-2 naps a day.  If you take a morning and afternoon then you usually sleep 9:30-11 and 1:30-3:30.  If you only take one nap you'll go down around 11:30-12 and sleep until 2:30-3pm.  I still don't think you're ready to move to one nap but you're flexible if we get stuck doing something for Miller which I love.  You go down for bed around 7pm and sleep until 7-7:30am.  It is glorious.

Milestones:  Over the past 8 weeks you have completely transformed from little baby to little toddler.  You are about 95% walking.  Any day now I'm just expecting to put you down and you just keep on walking.  Right now you can take about 8-10 steps on your own before you sit down but I know it's coming.
I'm so excited and terrified for this phase again since I just did this with Miller.   Lots of baby gates will be going back up.
- started waving whenever we leave a house, store, or say bye bye
- clap along whenever anyone claps or get excited
- you can say mama, dada, baba, and shake your head no.  You mostly call for mama when you can't find me in the room, get hurt, or need a snuggle.  It's my favorite thing to hear.   Miller was a late talker and is really just talking in sentences now at almost 2.5 so I will be interested to see how talking goes for you.  You already seem clearer with the few words you can say.
- you have 6 teeth and have had 6 for about 3 months now.  Miller got most of his teeth between 12 and 15 months so I will be interested to see if it's the same for you.

Here are some of this month's favorites:

12 Month Baby Favorites

1. Halo sleepsack in fleece-  we love these sleepsacks for the cooler weather!  I was worried they would be too hot but we've been putting Matthew in his regular (not fleece) pajamas with no socks and zipping him up and he stays warm but not too hot.  He also seems to love them too and appears to be sleeping more comfortably.

2. Munchkin no bite sippy cups- these are our new favorite sippy cups! Matthew loves to chew the spout/nipple on the sippy cups and these have been working out so well. He can chew these without loosening the lid or causing his water to spill.  I also think these will come in handy when we eventually make the switch from bottle to sippy cup for milk.

3. Tommee Tippee Straw cups-  I got one of these for each of the boys for when we're out running errands and so far I love them!  We usually only put water in straw cups and these are so good at keeping the water cold and not spilling. Since both of them love to throw their cups around the back of the car I love being able to not panic that the water is leaking all over the car.  Highly suggest these.

4. Pop up peekaboo books-  Matthew loves books but he especially loves pop up books!  These are hands down our favorites since the pictures are big, the colors are bright, and the pop up parts are  big enough for little hands to grab and participate.   We currently have the one shown but I just ordered the Christmas one for the boys from Amazon.

5. Freshly Picked Moccasins-  I've talked about these many times before but these are my favorite moccasins for early walkers!  Since they're really supposed to be barefoot to learn how to walk but that isn't really an option now that it's getting cold I'm so happy I have these for Matt.  He just grew out of his hand me down pair from Miller so he's getting a new pair this week.  Plus they'll be adorable for the holidays :) While they are pricey they really do last forever!

6. Sesame Street ABC Count on Me Ride on toy-  Matt got these a few weeks ago for his birthday and has loved it ever since.  It's easy for him to climb on and scoot all over the family room.  It has a bunch of buttons and bright lights that he loves.  It also sings the ABCs which Miller is a big fan of.

7. Mini Boden Reversible Cotton Pants-  I've been a Mini Boden fan for years but I try to wait until their stuff is on sale because it can be pricey.  I was able to get a pair of these for Matthew when they had a sale a few weeks ago and we love them.  The fact that they're reversible means they're a little bit thicker which is perfect for winter and the cotton is so so soft.  Since we're in and out of the car a lot I try to keep Matt in warm comfy clothes and these fit the bill.

8. Melissa & Doug First Shapes Jumbo Puzzle- We have this puzzle from Miller and Matt loves it.  He prefers ripping them all out and throwing them around the room but since it's big and has the knobs on them he can easily get them back in the right places and is always so proud of himself :)

9. Munchkin Stay Put Suction Cup Bowls- These are a new purchase of mine and so far they are working out well!  I don't know if the suction will keep working forever but for right now they are great and he hasn't been able to get them off the high chair and fling them which is a win.

10. Carter's Fleece One Piece Pajamas- Carter's is always a great go to for pj's and the fleece ones are our favorites in the winter.  They're so soft and stay soft even after a lot of washes.  Plus the Carter's prices can't be beat!

What are some of your favorites for 1 year olds?

Thoughts for Thursday: Christmas Jammies

If you've been reading here awhile you know I love my boys to match.  Clothes, shoes, pajamas, jackets.  I'm guilty of matching it all and I love it.  Christmas pajamas might be my most favorite thing ever and the fact that I can really match them this year makes me beyond excited.

I've been using all myself control this season and made myself wait until after Matthew's birthday to start the purchasing.   I just bought the Gymboree holiday lights ones and Miller really wants the Santasaurus ones of course.   Then I will buy the updated sizes for our matching family jams, the striped Hanna Andersson ones.  I'm also thinking they need the Dear Deer ones from HA too.  So many choices!!

If you haven't started buying Christmas jammies yet I've rounded up all my favorites for boys, girls, and babies!

Toddler boy holiday pjs

Toddler girls holiday pjs

Baby holiday pjs

Baby Girl: Gap star face// Just one you Santa pack girls// Carter's pink holiday // Carter's reindeer // Gap festive tree// Carter's holiday cookies

So do you go crazy for holiday pajamas?  Do you do family pajamas?  Do you match your kids?

My Baby is One and Other Random Thoughts on Thursday

Happy Thursday y'all!  I hope you all don't mind the random stream of consciousnesses posts lately.

So in totally cliche news,  I cannot believe my baby is one!  I think the first year goes by so much faster the second time around since you can't spend every moment staring at them and watching their every move. I'm just not ready for two toddlers in my house ;) We had a great day yesterday.  We did our normal daily activities but then had a little celebration with my parents and sister last night.  Unfortunately the birthday boy was a little cranky and had to bow out of his own party early.   Not to worry though he did get to open his gifts before bed only to have them all promptly stolen and claimed by his big brother.  #secondchildproblems

His big first birthday party with friends and more family is this Saturday.  I decided on a circus theme but decided not to go too crazy with it and enjoy myself as much as I can.  I think it will be so much fun!  I promise to share pics next week.

So my Target has totally been hitting it out of the park lately!  I picked up this leisure tunic as they call it and it's my new favorite. I want to go get it in every color.  It's perfect for wearing out with leggings because it covers your backside and it feels more dressed up than #activewear but it's still comfy sweatshirt material.

I keep eyeing these boots every time I'm in the store but haven't tried them on yet.  They look so cute and I love the color.  I also feel like they would be a good replacement boot while I hunt for the new perfect riding boot.

So I've actually been doing a great job with my book challenge! I mentioned here a few weeks ago that I wanted to try to read a book a week and try to limit my social media at night.
So far I've read The Knockoff, Winter Street, and this week I'm reading the follow up to Winter Street which is called Winter Stroll.  It's been nice to get in bed at night and read for a little bit before. I'm hoping I can keep this up through the end of the year.

I enjoyed this book a lot.  It was very interesting (if it's really true) to see how social media and fashion bloggers have impacted the fashion industry and changed it.

Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors because I love her stories about Nantucket.  I was excited to see a story set at Christmas in Nantucket and this one was so good.  I love that there is a sequel so I can keep up with the characters since I really loved all of them.   Which I think is hard to find in a book.

After I finish Winter Stroll I will let you know what I think and then next on my list is The Luckiest Girl Alive.
