New Year, New Goals

Happy New Year Friends!  I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing Christmas break. We were so lucky that Kyle was able to take the week after Christmas off so I decided to stay off of here and try to enjoy time together as a family.  Today I wanted to share my goals and resolutions for 2018.  I'm tried to make them realistic so that I can stick with them as much as possible.  I am also hoping by posting them hear I can keep myself in check, we'll see!

One. Put the phone down and be more present-  this one has always been a struggle for me! I want to document everything that my kids do that I find myself not enjoying the moment when I'm in it because I'm so obsessed with trying to capture all the perfect pictures.  I've been working on this a lot over 2017 and I'm hoping to continue to do in 2018.  I also need to not always be on it checking Instagram, Facebook, etc all day long.

Two. Figure out a workout routine and stick with it- I had a great workout routine for about 2 years and then my trainer stopped the classes she was doing and I've just been awful ever since.  I always feel so much better when I workout as a person and a mom so I know I have to get back into it.  I'm working on a loose schedule for what I want to do each week and I'm hoping I can stick to it in 2018.

Three. Drink more water- this one used to be so easy for me but when I was pregnant I hated water and always struggled to drink it. For some reason this hasn't gone away 3 years later!  I know that I need less coffee, Diet Coke and wine and a lot more water!! My goal is 80oz a day. We'll see how it goes.

Four. Say NO without feeling guilty- this is another thing I've struggled with pretty much my whole life.  I tend to be a people pleaser when it comes to people asking me to help with things and I always take on too much which leaves me feeling stressed out and overwhelmed. I just feel so bad saying no so I end up agreeing to it, even if I can't do it! This year for the sake of my sanity and my family's sanity I'm going to work on saying no to things that I think are too much and not in line with what I want to do.

Five. Make time for myself- this is another one I've mentioned here from time to time. Since having kids I've had a tough time making time for myself, even though I need it.  This year I'm going to work on carving out little spaces of time just for me.  Even if it's a simply taking a bubble bath after the kids go to bed or maybe even taking a girls weekend away with friends.

Six. Read 10 Books- I really hope to get back into reading this year so I set this goal to help me get there. There was once a time I could easily read 40-50 books a year!  I'm hoping setting this goal low will help me reach it and maybe surpass it.

Seven. Blog three times a week- I really, really want to get back into a blogging schedule.  I miss doing it consistently so much and I miss reading everyone's blogs.  I'm really hoping to post three times a week but I'm also not going to put pressure on myself if I can't keep up.

So there you have it! I'm hoping to check in every few months and let you all know how it's going!

  3. These are some great goals! I have several similar ones I posted about, too, and I am starting by getting organized. It feels good to purge and simplify! Happy New Year!

  4. I am so with you on putting my phone down and saying "no" without feeling guilty. Both are so hard, but they're attainable! Good luck to you! Happy New Year!

  6. I love your goals! I totally understand your feelings of wanting to capture all the moments but also wanting to be more present. I am going to make an effort to use my nice camera more and put my phone down, that way I'm not checking social media 24/7 while taking pics

  7. I need to get back into reading this year too, so badly! I am treating this week as the first week of January since NYE threw me off last week (slash it was just depressing going back to work and it was freezing....)
