Our favorite bar (in college) RJ Bentley's would signal last call with Man in the Mirror. I can remember many countless nights in college being like "Ohhh no Man in the Mirror is on, the bar is closing hurry get another drink!" or "Ohh no we've been out waaaay to long, Man in the Mirror is on, we better hurry and leave!"
I actually started considering ending our reception with Man in the Mirror since me and K met in college and most of our friends went to UMCP with us. I thought it would be a fun thing for everyone, now I am definitely going to for a few reasons:
1. Many unforgettable memories with my friends
2. WE ARE GETTING MARRIED ON MICHAEL JACKSON'S BIRTHDAY- I should do it as my last toast to him
3. My late grandmother, Gigi, loved him and I know how sad she would be today and how excited she would be to hear that I played him at my wedding just for her
No matter how controversial he was at times you have to admit he made some damn good music!
Michael Joseph Jackson- August 29, 1958- June 25, 2009
Oh I think that is the cutest idea ever!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteamen to that!
ReplyDeleteDespite any controversial issues that have came up in the last 15 years or so...he was a fabulous performer and had fantastic music! It's a shock!
so, i was never a big MJ fan but i think it really struck me how much of a part of our culture he's become when I felt a certain emptiness when i found out. it's sad.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that idea. Regardless of the controversy, you cannot deny his talent. I loved his singing and dancing. In fact, still to this day I have one of his CD's in my car. I am totally busting it out today.
ReplyDeleteI was on the train yesterday before I found out he died listening to P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) and thinking about how I really wanted to play that song at our wedding. No matter if he was dead or alive, there was still going to be a lot of MJ at the wedding!!
ReplyDeleteIt's weird that he's gone. The MJ that I grew up with was really gone as of about 10 years ago but it just makes you look back at everything he created-- pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteI do think this is a great idea :D I just came across your blog, loving it! xx
