Weekend Away in Atlanta

Over this past weekend Kyle and I were able to sneak away for 48 hours to Atlanta by ourselves!  The whole point of the trip was to have dinner with some of Kyle's business partners that live in Atlanta so we decided to leave the kids at home and make a weekend out of it.  I was a little nervous to be leaving the kids because we haven't left them for two nights in a row in over two years but I know it's good for them to be separated from me every once in awhile ;) (and now I realize we need to do this more often and for maybe 4 or 5 nights next time)

We started off the trip with some mimosas for breakfast at the airport bar and on the plane.  We figured we had to start the trip out right since we were sans kids.

We arrived in Atlanta on Friday around lunch time. Kyle has been there many times for work but it was first time in the city.  I had no idea Atlanta was so big and there were so many neighborhoods!  We stayed at the St. Regis in Buckhead which was close to the work dinner we had
on Saturday night.   Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we decided to find lunch and do some exploring near our hotel.

This was my casual travel outfit, which is one of my regular everyday go-tos.

We basically pulled up the Yelp app and saw King + Duke first, glanced at the menu and knew we had to try it!  It was so so good!

We had the pimento cheese hushpuppies for an appetizer and Moscow mules.  Then Kyle had their burger and I had the Georgia kale salad.

After we stuffed our faces we headed over to the Shops at Buckhead.  We hadn't planned on shopping but I'm so glad we went.  I found the most adorable sweaters and top at Joie and Kyle was able to get a bunch of clothes at Bonobos.

I didn't get the dress because it's too cold here now but it was so cute!

My new favorite casual sweater that I think I need it in every color!

Our room was finally ready around 4:00pm so we headed back to the hotel to get ready to go out to dinner with good friends of ours who live in Atlanta.  St. Regis hotels are always gorgeous and this one had the most amazing soaking tub, which sadly I never took advantage of.

We got dressed and headed over to our friends Kate & Jon's house in Brookhaven for drinks and to see their little two year old son before we headed out for the night.

We started the night off with a drink at  Beetlecat in Inman Park which is the same chef owner as King + Duke where we had eaten lunch. Beetlecat has the coolest 70s vibe to it and the cocktails were so good. I had the Salty Dog and my friend Kate had the Brass Monkey.

We then headed over to dinner at  Barcelona.  Another fun and delicious spot.  Barcelona is a tapas restaurant and I'm pretty sure the four of us tried almost everything on the menu.  Surprising the crispy cabbage was the probably the best thing on the menu and we were not expecting that even after our waitress recommended it.

On Saturday morning Kyle and I had a couples massage at 9am.  Can you believe it's the first couples massage we've ever had, and Kyle's first professional massage. I don't know why we haven't done this before but it was amazing!  After that we had coffee and breakfast by the St. Regis pool.  The weather was too cool to really enjoy it but our waiter was telling us the pool can get really wild in the summer time.

After breakfast we showered and got dressed and our friends picked us up to take us to lunch and do some exploring at  Ponce City Market.  It reminded me of a smaller (less crowded) version of Chelsea Market in NYC.  Lots of fun shops and restaurants to explore.

I had a chicken biscuit from Hop's Chicken and Kate & I split a beer from The Tap on Ponce.

After that we walked The Beltline for a little bit and then headed back to our hotel to relax before dinner.

Kyle and I decided to spend the afternoon laying by the pool and relaxing and I couldn't help but get some chips and salsa because they looked so good. I seriously ate and drank my way through Atlanta ;)

On Saturday night we headed to a private residence of one of Kyle's business partners for dinner.  I didn't take any pictures besides my outfit for the night but I wish you all could have seen their house. It was absolutely gorgeous!  They just finished building it this spring and it's in The Vinings right on the Chattahoochee near the restaurant Canoe (for you locals).  It was really fun to get to meet all the people Kyle works with in Atlanta.  If you've been reading here awhile you know that he travels a lot for work so it's always fun when I can put faces to names of people he's worked with for years.

We flew home early on Sunday morning and even though I enjoyed the time away I was so excited to get back to my boys and hear about all the adventures they had with my sister and parents.   I'm hoping we get to head back to Atlanta again some time soon so we can explore the city more and visit with our friends again.
