Friday Five

TGIF Friends!  How is everyone's summer going so far?  We have been so busy the last few weeks that the blog has just totally fallen off my radar.   Lots of time spent with friends, family, at the pool, at the park, on beaches, phew, it's been exhausting so far but we're loving every minute of it.  I'm surprisingly really enjoying having both boys at home with me and enjoying not having to run out the door to school a few times a week.

That being said I wanted to pop in today and share some things I've been loving lately.

1. This $13 Tassel Cover Up!

So I have to thank my friend Rene for introducing me to this adorable $13 cover up! She was wearing it in the pink color at the pool last weekend and I knew that I had to have it, because I mean it's $13!! It comes in 7 colors so I know you can find one you'll love!

My go-to breakfast for the past two years has been a Shakeology vegan chocolate shake with almond milk.  Lately though I've been getting tired of the brands I was using so I decided to try Califia Farms because I had heard such good things about it and everyone was right! It is so so delicious! I don't really know how to explain it but it just tastes creamier and more natural, less watered down than some brands I've been using.

3. Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis

I decided to pick this book up after seeing a review on Goodreads.  As someone who grew up on the east coast with more experience in city life than rural America I will be the first to admit that I don't know much about the midwest, and with the way the political climate is changing in the world these days I wanted to get an insiders view of a part of our country I know little about.   It has been such a good read I cannot suggest it enough to anyone who is looking to learn a little more about middle America and how their culture and dreams may be very different from the ones your used to.

4.  Puracy Natural Liquid Hand Soap

I have this thing with hand soap, see I'm very picky.  I have a few go-tos that I like but in general I have a hard time finding one that I love.  Since I've been trying to add more natural products to our life I started to do some research and came across this brand.  The few other natural ones I've tried I haven't liked and all the reviewers on Amazon said this one was good and that the lavender and vanilla smell was the perfect mix of enough scent without being overbearing.  I decided to go for it and order the 4 pack since it was cheaper, and we have 4 bathrooms so it worked out.  As usual the Amazon reviewers were right and this hand soap is great.  Nice light scent, lathers up easily and is all natural!  A win in my book!

5. Soludos Braided Slide Sandal

I wrote about these sandals back in early May when I first ordered them but I wanted to give you all an update.  These are my new favorite summer sandal!  I wasn't sure if I would like the slide on style versus the flip flop or tie up style I've been used to but I absolutely love these! Not only are they easy to throw on they are so comfortable and I get tons of compliments on them every time I wear them. They are under $100 so if you're looking for your new summer sandal, you have to give these a try!

Wishing everyone a fun, warm, sunny summer weekend!

  5. I just added that book to my list. I worked in the inner city and have lived in cities and the burbs, but pretty clueless about middle america.

  6. Those sandals are super cute! I'm always worried my foot is going to slide all the way through if there isn't a "thong" part to keep my foot in. I need to try that almond milk, we love it in our house!
