Thoughts for Thursday: An Accidental Social Media Break

Hi Friends!  I've sort of found myself taking an unplanned break from social media and I'm sort of loving it.

Life has been so crazy lately.  Preschool started up, Miller has soccer and swim lessons, I have Matthew in playgroup and a gym class.  I've taken on a few positions in my local mom's club which are keeping me busy.

And to top it off... this is the first week that Kyle has been home in 5 weeks!! Yes I had five weeks of parenting all by myself and they wore me down (he was home on the weekends thankfully but still the full week alone with two toddlers is draining).

I'm also enjoying not documenting every moment of my life, it's kind of freeing to not feel the pressure to share 24/7, but not to worry I will be back.  Once life calms down and I get into the swing of all this I know I'll back and hopefully I'll be able to read more blogs and get my crazy life into some sort of schedule.

If I owe anyone an email- I apologize!! I promise I will catch up on all of that soon too!

Happy First Day of Fall Friends!!

Thoughts for Thursday: Life Lately

Hi Friends!  How has everyone been?  Just as I was finally getting back into the school/sports/activities routine I was nailed with an awful cold. So I'm on day 5 of this cold and I'm hoping it subsides soon or I'll be making a trip to the doctor because this cough is awful. Also being sick as a parent is the worst, no more laying around on the couch trying to recover!

I just realized I haven't done a weekend recap or life lately in weeks, honestly we haven't really been up to anything that exciting but it's still been fun and I love documenting it all here.

We signed up Miller for soccer this year and it's been so entertaining watching three year old's attempt to play soccer.

Miller also had his first day of preschool last week and loved it!

Matthew had his first ever gym class and absolutely loves it!  I'm excited that Matthew and I finally get some good one on one time with each other while Miller's in school.

We've spent lots of time with friends at beaches and the pool, eating and drinking away summer.

We finally made some real progress on our kitchen plans, I feel like I say this every week but we finally finally did and now I'm trying to convince Kyle that we need a navy/dark blue island.
I've been drooling over this kitchen for the last week.  How gorgeous is it?!

Saturday Shopping: Fall Transitions

As I sit here and write this post it's 95 degrees outside and fall is the last thing on my mind even though it's September 10th.    That being said I know that over the next few weeks the temperatures will start to drop, I will finally have my first pumpkin spice latte, and I'll be craving all things fall.   In the meantime I've been trying to come up with some fun outfits to get us through this weird time of year where I want to start wearing my fall clothes but it's still so hot outside.

I've rounded up my favorite looks below:

Earrings// Watch// Clutch// Sweater Dress// Sunglasses// Booties

What are some of your favorite looks to transition to fall?

Happy Saturday Friends!

Back to School Toddler Favorites

Today Miller starts 3 year old preschool! I'm honestly so excited for school to start and us to be back in our routine.  I'm lucky that so far Miller has loved school and is so excited for new friends, teachers, and toys that he doesn't even realize I'm gone.

This being my second year of preschool with Miller I've learned some of the must haves for us during the school year.  Every school is different and requires different things but these were my favorites last year that I'm using again this year.

1. Pottery Barn Kids Mackenzie Backpack- When Miller was an infant we were gifted a PBK pre-k sized backpack with sharks on it and he loved it last year.  This year he asked if he could have a dinosaur backpack instead and of course I totally caved :).  I always loved getting a new backpack every school year!  It's currently back ordered and not expected to arrive until October so it may end up being a Christmas gift.  I went with the next size up so that he can use for the next few years of school.

2. Patagonia Down Sweater - If you've been reading this blog awhile you know I love these jackets! While we aren't quite in jacket weather yet I know it's inevitable so I always try to get the down sweater during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale or the Patagonia big summer sale.  These jackets are lightweight but keep the kids so warm when it's freezing out.  Matthew is getting Miller's old blue one and Miller is getting the red one this year, which school look great with the dino backpack ;)

3. Old Navy Uniform Polos- I've raved about these polos before but they truly are my favorite! Miller's preschool gives us explicit instructions to send them in play clothes that they can get paint, dirt, food, etc on and that is why I love these polos!  With all the sales ON has I'm usually able to get them for $5 so if Miller ruins them I'm not stressed about.  I will say though that after two years of wearing these through two kids only one has ever gotten ruined most of the times I can get the stains right out and they've held up nicely.

4. Hanes Ankle Socks-  Miller is also requited to wear tennis shoes or some type of casual closed toe shoe to school.  These socks (which are from Target) are our favorites. Miller is very particular about his socks and shoes so I have trouble finding socks he likes but so far these have been a hit.  They are thin enough that they don't bunch but have thick enough elastic that they stay in place for him.

5. Carter's Twill Pants-  As I mentioned above about sending him in play clothes these Carter's pants and their shorts are go-to's for me.  Miller is still so skinny and I've found that Carter's is one of the only brands I can find where I can adjust that waist all the way down and they don't look too puffy around the waistline.  I also usually snag these on sale so I don't mind if they come home covered in dirt and paint.

6. New Balance 574 for toddlers-  We are huge New Balance fans around here.  Miller was so sad when he out grew his old pair of New Balances (I might have been sadder because the colors were so cute) but he was so excited when we went to pick out new shoes and he found these. They are sturdy and completely hold up to the abuse a 2-3 year old boy puts on them!

7. Target Tennis Shoes-  In Miller's backpack we are required to send our kids with a full outfit change of clothes including shoes in case of a potty accident or major spill/mess.  Since I usually just let this outfit live in the backpack all year I always pick up an inexpensive pair of tennis shoes are Target that can just stay in the backpack if or when it is needed.

So that sums up my favorites for heading back to school!  Miller does not need to bring lunch to school since he leaves at noon and his preschool provides his morning snack and milk which is such a time saver for me!

I would love to hear so of your favorite must-haves for toddlers in preschool!

Thoughts for Thursday: Current Obsessions

Happy September 1st!! Can you all believe it's September?  I sure can't! As much as I love fall I'm going to desperately miss summer this year.  Our kids are total summer babies and could not get enough of the pool or beach this year.  I will also miss all the outdoor activities and how much energy we burned daily and just being in the fresh air.

I survived my 30 Day Closet Remix challenge with one cheat in there, I just could not resist the Lilly Pulitzer After party sale.  I'm not proud to say I cheated but I will say it was totally worth it!
I am officially back to shopping today! I don't have anything that I need right this moment but I have spent the last month drooling over fall clothes so I've rounded up my favorites below:

These are so similar to the ones I have from last year that I looooove!! And right now they're 50% off so go snag yourself a pair. Leopard print is a fall neutral.

Stripes!! Obviously my love of stripes will continue into fall and this oversized tee looks like the perfect transition piece.

How gorgeous would this dress be for a fall wedding?!! Ahhh I'm in love.  I think it would also work if you were pregnant or be great for maternity photos.

Love the little owl on this sweater! So cute with a pair of skinny jeans and boots.

This tortoise clutch!! Give me all the heart eye emojis for this one.

I've seen these jeans popping up more lately and I'm kind of obsessed!! I love the frayed unfinished hem at the bottom

This is going to be a staple piece in my momiform this fall and winter I can already tell you.  It looks soft, comfy, and easy to wear around kids!

This dress has gone on my must have for fall list!! I love that it's a simple black dress that can be dressed up or down but has the fun ruffle at the bottom.

Another great transition piece to take you from summer to fall! Love the white, I'm pretty sure I'm still going to be loving white through the winter.

Love colors in this scarf and the fact that it can be paired with a black or a navy blue.  I'm such a sucker for plaid scarfs in the fall.

I've been lusting after this tote for years...years!! Every season I pass it over but I think this fall I might finally make the jump and buy it. I can't get over it almost 4 years later so I think I need one.

Are you ready for fall? Are there any fall items you're obsessing over yet?
