TGIF: Celebrity Round Up

TGIF!! Are you happy the weekend is here?  I sure am.  I'm actually taking an early Friday off so I might sneak off to the pool this afternoon (shhh don't tell anyone)

Well unless you've been living under a rock you've heard this story...

I don't know why she would cheat on Rob and the worst part is that it's with a married man with 2 kids!! What was she thinking?  She has officially become a homewrecker!

Kate Perry is looking great in her bikini these days...  I am a huge KP fan, I swear her songs are like crack, I don't want to like them but I get addicted the minute I hear them.  Anyone else with me?

Speaking of bikinis... this is what my stomach looks like after a Chipotle burrito

I can only hope I look this good at 39...

Lastly, are you excited for the Olympics to start?!?!  I love that they are in London this year and cannot wait to see what the opening ceremonies hold.
P.S.- how gorgeous is she? Seriously? She really is the closest thing to perfection!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Kitchen Update- Slow Progress

Don't get too excited.  This kitchen updating process is almost 6 months in the making and all that's been completed is the cabinet painting.  If you need a reminder of my plan click here. The sad part is I have the knobs/pulls for the cabinets and the fabric for the curtains and chairs I just haven't gotten around to doing anything with them. Pathetic. Does this happen to anyone else??  You start a project and then life gets in the way so it just sits there for months taunting you to finish it?!  Please tell me I'm not alone!

Moving onto the picture part.  I have to give you a before picture (which is old and blurry) but you get the idea and then finally my white cabinets below (I didn't clean up before I took the pic so ignore the sweater and dishes in the sink pleaseandthankyou).

Before:

After:

Doesn't the white paint make a huge difference?!  It has lightened up our kitchen immensely.  We get very little light in the kitchen because our house faces west and we have a big tree in the front so the white paint has made the kitchen feel so much brighter.

I was going to splurge on Restoration Hardware knobs/pulls if you remember from my first post but I changed my mind after I found a great deal on ebay.  If you are looking for knobs/pulls I highly recommend this store, Cabinet Hardware Shop.   The knobs arrived 2 days after I ordered them and the quality is great for the price. I got my knobs in Brushed Satin Nickel but they carry all finishes in most of their hardware.

Nantucket knob for $2.35 per knob.

Montana pull for $2.79 per pull.

I pulled these pictures right from their website so I apologize for the post full of crappy pictures!

I have also decided that I don't think I want black granite counter tops anymore, which is very hard for even me to believe because I LOVE black and white kitchens.
I have made this decision for 2 reasons:
1. I've been really drawn to gray lately after seeing a gray granite when I showing property last week
2. This isn't our forever home and we are going to turn this into a rental propety when we move so I might just put corian in because they have easier up keep than granite and I wouldn't stress over tenants damaging it.

Here are some of my Corian options:

 Platinum

Dove

Silver Birch

Arrowroot

Has anyone ever had Corian in their kitchen? Does it hold up?  Do you like it?   Which one of these do you think would go best with white?

My goal is to have the knobs on within the next two weeks and then hopefully have the counter tops completed by the end of August.   I'm hoping by throwing out these dates on the blog in writing I'll actually get it done!

Little Tid Bits for Monday

Happy Monday! How was everyone's weekend?  Mine was busy yet relaxing at the same time if that makes sense.

Friday night we stayed low key, ate Ledo's pizza and watched The Roommate- so bad yet I couldn't stop watching it.  Minka Kelly's voice is kind of annoying in my book- anyone agree?
My wonderful husband brought me home this treat:

  Peanut Butter Cup Cupcake

It was delicious and it came from Ledo's pizza of all places even though it looks like a Crumbs cupcake!

I worked all day Saturday which wasn't bad considering it was monsooning down here and despite that rain I still had a very successful open house so that was good!

We went out on Saturday night in Baltimore to dinner at Townhouse, a new restaurant in Fells Point/Harbor East area and it was so good.  The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was really cool.  I must admit that Baltimore is really stepping up it's game these days!
Afterward we headed to Red Star, an old favorite, in Fells for after dinner drinks.
 Me and Kyle

 Me and my sis

Sunday I worked for half of the day and then I just laid on the couch and did nothing but watch bad tv.   Sometimes all you need is an afternoon of bad Hallmark channel movies and Keeping up with the Kardashians to relax!  PS- I want to hate the Kardashians but I can't, they are a bad habit I can't kick, they drive me crazy yet I find myself watching the show every Sunday night!! Anyone with me??   I'm also dying to see pictures of Penelope Scotland.

Did you see Piperlime is having a 20% off sale?  Someone go buy something in my honor since I'm on a spending freeze!

Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale is currently going on through August 6th and there are tons of great deals as usual.  Again feel free to purchase something in my honor.  :)

New (old) Job!

I am happy to annouce that I not only have a new job but I'm working in a whole new field and I am happier than I have been in a long time!

I am officially a Real Estate Agent!  I am working with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Maryland.

I actually worked as a Realtor from 2005-2007 but moved onto property management and then stumbled into event planning in early 2008.  I really thought that I would love event planing but to be honest I never really did, it wasn't bad but it just wasn't for me and for years I've been dying to get back into real estate.

When I found out in March that we had lost a major contract and there may be downsizing within the company I immediately signed up to take the RE license class again (I let my license lapse when I left the field so I had to take the class again) and I found that after only 2 classes I felt like I was using my brain again and learning so much so I knew that this was where I needed to be. I waited until decisions were made at my job before I made any moves though.

I passed my state licensing exam on June 26th so I am licensed to sell anywhere in the state of Maryland.  I will specilize in the county I live in but since MD is such a small state I really can work in any counties that I know and feel comfortable in.  So if you know anyone buying or selling a home in Maryland send them my way!

I'm working on setting up my website, twitter, and a real estate blog (which will offer general real estate buying/selling info and MD specific info) so once I have all of these rolling I will let you all know.

Thanks again for all the encouragement and positive vibes you have been sending me! The blog world really is full of nice, genuine people and I appreciate you all.

Disappearing Act

Hello all!  I'm sorry that I am such a tease! I said I was back and then I disappeared again for 2 weeks.  Wow. This summer is flying by on me, I'm not sure how it's already July 16th but I've been busy and trying to enjoy every minute of this summer. I have also failed on taking photos but here is a bit of what I've been up to.

I spent the week of 4th of July in the Outers Banks with my husband's family and it was so nice to have a week away to lay on the beach.  It was HOT but we all stuck it out and enjoyed ourselves. We even got to see some fireworks on the 4th.  I also got to play with my 2 nieces who are 15 months and 11 months (now I have total baby fever!)  their little bathing suits and outfits were just too cute.

I saw Magic Mike with my book club last Tuesday, it was good the stripping was comical at times but the guys were nice to look at (ha!).  The plot also got a little heavy for a stripping movie but I would say overall I enjoyed it.  The theater was PACKED we were shocked since it was a Tuesday but there was not one empy seat in there!
Did you all see?  What did you think?

I've been wearing my J.crew pink neon shorts every where this summer.  If you follow me on Instagram you've probably seen quite a few outfit uploads with them.  They are the best!

I've been attempting the natural hair look to give it a brek from all the product and heat I use on a daily basis.  My whole life I've always had pretty straight hair but lately it's got an interesting wave to it if I let it dry naturally. It's kind of crazy. Has this happened to anyone else?   Anyone else have their hair get wavier or curler as they've gotten older?  Here is a picture of the back of it at the beach.

I promise this time that I am back for good and you can hold me to it!!
