Things I'm Afraid to Tell You

Today I’m joining Meg from Mimi and Meg and many other brave bloggers in sharing the not so pretty parts of our lives.  This all started when Jess from Make Under my Life posted this post.  Then Ez from Creature Comforts invited a bunch of bloggers to join her in sharing their not so pretty parts of life.  When I saw both of these posts I was really intrigued because I know I've been guilty of sharing only the pretty happy moments of my life and I thought wow this is a great opportunity to show everyone that I do have flaws, quite a lot of them actually.   So when I heard Meg was putting together another wave of Things I’m Afraid to Tell You posts I had to join.

So here goes nothing…

- When I married my husband in 2009 I was $9,000 in credit card debt- This is probably the hardest one to share because I don’t talk about it often. It’s embarrassing and I have nothing to show for it except maybe some out of season clothes and Coach bags.  My husband paid all of it off with his hard earned savings since I didn’t have any. I will forever be indebted to him and thankful that we were in a place financially where he could pay it off for me. If you take anything away from this post it’s this: DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN DEBT JUST TO KEEP UP WITH THE TRENDS!!

- I have an “allowance”- see #1. I have a job so it’s my own money but me and K have an agreed upon amount of money that I receive each month for shopping and fun things for myself.  Anything you see on this blog that I’ve bought has come from said allowance.

- I have really, really bad road rage- sometimes while I’m screaming and cursing at another drivers I  wish they  would get in an accident or bad things would happen to them - I know this cannot be good for my karma and I’m really trying to improve but commuting 45mins each way everyday does not help.

- I hate surprises because I’m a control freak- if I’m not in control of a situation I have a very, very hard time letting go and letting other people be in charge.  I hate even more to be caught off guard with a surprise.

- I'm afraid of flying - see #4. It took me 2 xanax and 5 glasses of wine to get home from Italy.

- I can be really bitchy- I’m generally nice and happy but if you catch me on a bad day or give me poor customer service I am a total Bitch. With a capital B.

-I hate cooking- I think it sucks. I don’t want to spend an hour or more of the precious hours I have after work putting together a meal that we will eat in 15mins

- I don't like yoga-  I am a runner and always played sports growing up. I find yoga to be too quiet, too calm, and almost boring. I also have zero flexibility which just makes yoga more  difficult.

Be sure to check out Jess and Ez’s posts along with all the brave bloggers that are participating today listed below. Feel free to join us if you would like today- let me know so I can link back to your post!

  1. I was afraid of #1 happening to me! With an unexpected bonus from work I was just able to pay it off. I was in a little more than you. Feels so freakin good!

Being a bitch sometimes feel good. Ha.

  4. I LOVE this series and am so happy I participated in it- love discovering new blogs and seeing what makes them most vulnerable- since we all are!

I completely agree with the debt issue and keeping up with trends- I, too, frequently get overwhelmed in it and veer aware from my allowance (which stopped happening a few months ago.

Oh, and I also have ridiculous road rage- LIKE BAD. I remember a few years back - I was giving this guy the friendly finger ;) and he came out of his truck with a bat and starting hitting my car (which obviously made me way more mad). Since then I have brought it down a bit and have been working on anger while on the road. It's not safe for anyone! :)

  6. Thx for sharing! I always drink wine during flying! (I can even drink on a early morning flight if it's bad) I am afraid of flying but wine helps! Definitely!

  9. road rage plagues me too. my previous job was in sales and my territory was dc, md, de and va. i'd drive to blacksburg and back in a day. i was angry all the time and it was not attractive. so i switched jobs and i'm so much happier!

  10. Haha I'm a total control freak too, and it really stresses me out when things don't go as planned. Ah well :P Nice to know it happens to others too!

  11. Love this!!!! So many of these apply to me too. I hate yoga..... how could I possibly turn my mind off when I'm trying to act like a contortionist and staring at everyone?? I commute 1+ hour each way everyday, I feel your pain. If road rage helps you get through it - go for it :) I generally think I am a happy and nice person unless someone totally crosses me as well.... and then I am horrible, and have to work on my own karma too!

  12. Your post made me laugh. I also have bad road rage. Actually I got much better - more patient - with time. But my best friend's nickname for me used to be "Road Rage Gab". Charming I know. I think it had to do with how bad drivers are in my hometown because as soon as I moved to a different city, I became a whole different person on the road. Maybe you're just in a city with really really bad drivers :) Oh and control freak, hello!

  14. Just found your blog and I feel a kinship already! I was also in credit card debt when I met my husband. I had $1000 on just my Victoria's Secret credit card alone. Ridiculous. But it was a good lesson because I know I'll NEVER go into debt like that again, especially not for something that looses 75% of its value the minute you snip the tag off.

  16. Thanks for sharing! I am totally like you too - sweet, but a total B if you get on my wrong side. I used to have such road rage, but haven't driven in at least a year since moving to this little country with overpriced cars (seriously like 3x the price!)

  17. Love it! It took me three xanax to get home from Italy! I actually measure trips in xanax now - like I live in DC and 1 xanax is a trip to NYC, two is a trip to Texas, three is Cali or anything in Europe......

  18. I don't like yoga either. I tried it twice and it just wasn't for me. I was embarrassed that I wasn't flexible (at all) and I know that gets better but just not my thing! Too quiet!

I am control freak too. I'm working on it though!

  20. Love this post!!! I totally agree with #1. Not worth going into debt to keep up with the "Jones's" I did that in college and now my philosophy is if I can't pay cash for it, I don't need it. I have never tried yoga but I have a feeling I wouldn't like it. My mind is always going going going, I think I have ADD lol, but I need something more active!!

  21. Nat, thank you for your honesty! We were in the same boat when we got married except that it was my husband's credit card from college that we paid off. However, I too tend to spend far too much money which just eats into our savings account every month. I've really been working to curb the need to buy but it's hard. The other thing I've started doing is selling clothes on eBay and then I can turn around and use that money for other things that I may want but not need! Oh and I'm a total control freak too and hate flying but am a much better flyer now that I have kids and therefore something to keep me distracted during the flight!

  22. Great post! I still have student loan debt that I brought into our marriage that will take us years to pay off. I feel terrible that my husband (who is debt free) has to deal with it, but such is marriage. He doesn't seem to mind, but I feel guilty. We're working on getting it all paid off and hopefully we'll be there soon!

  23. I'm very excited sharing this amazing testimony about how i save my marriage and get my husband back today, My name is Becky Miller , I live in Los Angeles, California, I'm happily married to a lovely and caring husband ,with three kids. A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my husband .so terrible that he took the case to court for a divorce.he said that he never wanted to stay with me again, and that he didn't love me anymore. So he packed out of the house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get him back, after much begging, but all to no avail.and he confirmed it that he has made his decision, and he never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my husband .So i explained every thing to him,so he told me that the only way i can get my husband back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for him too.So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow his advice. Then he gave me the email address of the spell caster whom he visited.{salvationlovetemple@gmail.comm}. So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address he gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my husband back the next day. What an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my husband who didn't call me for the past seven 9 months, gave me a call to inform me that he was coming back.So Amazing!! So that was how he came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and he apologized for his mistake, and for the pain he caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster. So, i will advice you out there to kindly visit the same website { http://lovespelltemple.weebly.com/. } if you have any problem contact Dr Sam ,{ salvationlovetemple@gmail.com }, thanks you Dr Sam, i will always be testifying about your good work.
