LA Fitness

Hello fellow bloggers! I hope everyone had as lovely a weekend as we did here on the east coast. It was sunny and in the 80's! It couldn't have been more perfect, I even got some color!

Ok now to the real reason I'm here today. I am looking for some advice. K and I have been waiting for the new LA Fitness to open right across the street from us. They have been building it since we moved in and we just realized that it is now finished! So I went online to read up more about the club and it's going to awesome plus it has a pool which I love b/c I love swimming.

BUT after I googled it I read a ton of customer complaints about poor customer service, problems ending your contract, problems with stealing, corporate never solving your problems, unqualifed staff etc. I know that every gym has it's problems but I noticed an extensive amount of complaints for LA Fitness. I have belonged to quite a few different gyms in my life- Gold's Gym, Fitness First, etc. I have never had a problem with any of them and I just want to make sure before I commit myself to contract that I won't be getting screwed.

Does anyone belong to LA Fitness? If so do you like, do you have any complaints? Any advice or info would be much appreciated!!

  1. I have (this is the one gym I haven't worked at but belonged to, but that's not really important.)

To be honest, it was reasonably priced. I thought the staff (trainers, instructors, sales reps) were adequate. Not AMAZING. But I've definitely met worse. I fulfilled my contract, so I don't know about that, but in my experience, all gyms are big pains in the butt when it comes to getting out of contracts.

I'd wager, though, LA Fitness is corporate, it probably varies from facility to facility because they are staffed by locals. So I wouldn't worry if you see some bad reviews in, say, Colorado. I'd be more worried if you see bad reviews in your own state (where the staff of your gym will probably receive a little bit of training, at least.)

Also, read over the contract and ask to bring a copy home with you. Don't sign right away, if you can avoid it. That way, you have time to read the fine print.

    Hope that helps!

  2. hey there! i've been a member of la fitness for over a year... and i love it. i don't regret it at all, though my fiance NEVER goes! (and we have a membership together)

i think the staff are really nice, the equipment is always maintained, there's always at least one person walking around cleaning the place, and i'm really happy with my membership.

sometimes the music is annoying. but, it usually depends on what the staff feels like listening to. weird. :)
