Thoughts for Thursday: Naptime Confessions

Happy Thoughts for Thursday!! Can you believe it was a year ago that we started this link-up?!  Thanks so much for sticking with us this year.  It's been so much fun getting to know some of you and finding new blogs.

- I'm dying to see the new Entourage movie!! We all used to be obsessed with and then Kyle and our guy friends decided it was lame and everyone stopped watching but I still kept watching that last season and now I want to see the movie. I just need to find someone to go with me...

- I'm really struggling with disciplining Miller. He's started throwing things when he gets really angry and of course did this at the gym daycare when they made him share and he hit a little girl :(  Then they tried to discipline him but he's 23 months old and didn't really understand. I'm not sure how to approach this and what to do. Every time he throws at home I sit him down and explain it isn't nice and could hurt someone one. If he does it again after a warning he gets time out. Which he usually thinks is funny. Sooo anyone have any advice!??

- I've really let this blog fall behind lately but I'm just finding it impossible to find time.  If I can get them both  to nap at the same time in the afternoon I usually then have a huge to do list to accomplish and then come 9pm I'm exhausted and just can't get it together to blog! When do you all blog?

- Matthew is 7 months old today!! I feel like the past seven months have flown by. They have been some of the hardest, most exhausting, happiest, and most rewarding in my entire life.  He is a busy little guy and never sits still just like his brother.

- We survived seven months with two kids under two and I feel like we're finally coming out of the fog!! Things are starting to get easier every day. Everyone said the first six  months would be the hardest and I have to agree with that but I feel like there is some normalcy to our lives again.

- Lately I've been finding it hard to find "me time" so a few nights a week around 8pm after the kids are asleep and we've eaten dinner I take a big glass of wine and head into the basement by myself. I don't take the baby monitor or my phone and I just sit and watch a tv show or read a book. It's nothing special but it's my way of taking a break and giving  myself some quiet time.  It's been so nice and refreshing and I usually come back up around  9pm feeling relaxed and ready for bed.

- I cannot keep up laundry to save my life. I seem to be able to wash and fold it, it's the putting it away part I'm horrible at! Can I hire someone just to put my laundry away?!

What are your confessions today?!

  1. Yes, I feel like it is so hard to find the time to blog and I only have one babe! I can't imagine what it would be like with 2 under 2!! I have found that blogging in the morning during Cam's first nap or on the days that I work during lunch break are the only times that work for blogging. My brain feels fried at night! I love your 'me' time! It's so important to have that every now and then or else you will go crazy!

  2. Oh man I have many of these same confessions. Ginny has never been good at timeout and finds it hilarious. She also refuses to sit/stay in timeout so we've had to resort to keeping her closed in her room during the 2-3 minute break or taking away privileges, like her book before bed if she misbehaves while getting ready for bed (sometimes she cares and sometimes she doesn't). It's exhausting. I feel ya on the needing time for myself and feel badly when it takes away time from Trey but getting the boys on the same nap schedule should hopefully help and give you some crucial alone time during the day. When you find the laundry fairy to put it away, please ask her to come to my house too! Abby thinks it takes 3 days to do laundry because that's usually how long it is until her clean clothes are all put away!

  4. Right there with you on the laundry! It never ends. I just told my husband the other day can we hire someone just to do laundry? We have our second on the way and I'm definitely a little nervous for the first 6 months. We've also heard it's the hardest. Since our little guy is in daycare he is pretty good when it comes to sharing but definitely has his moments. We've started time out with him but he kind of thinks it's funny and doesn't really take it seriously. We explain things to him also but not sure how much he is really understanding. Just keep at it and sooner than later he will start to realize. It won't happen over night and I'm sure they will continue to test us. The only way we can really keep up with blogging is doing it on work breaks. Luckily we are in front of a computer for majority of the day. Other than that it pretty much doesn't happen at home. ~Sierra

  6. Sorry about the Miller troubles! Sophie's almost 17 months and has begun throwing things when she's tired. And I mean really throwing, usually just at the floor, but we can always tell when she's tired because she starts throwing. I wish I had advice for you, but I guess I just have sympathies with you for that.

  7. I can't wait to see Entourage too!! I love hearing about real life from you- I can't imagine how much my life is about to change. So I have no advice on discipline, but I'll be following along in case you figure it out :) and don't even get me started on laundry...we have so much just the two of us, I can't imagine how much more we are about to have. yikes!

  8. its so hard to find the time to blog these days -- with the baby, move, work... and sometimes i'd rather just take a shower or nap instead of blog!! ;) reducing to 3 posts a week have been great for me. that way i dont put as much pressure on myself to do a ton of posts. xo jillian - cornflake dreams

  10. I'll see the movie with you! And I don't know about disciplining Miller, but every blog I read and all the friends I know with kids had issues with the same thing around the same age. It just happens, they push the limits and parents just have to do what they think is right. From what I have seen, he will grow out of it and will not be a 16 year old hitting people :)

  11. Disciplining is so hard. Greyson rarely takes me seriously, and while time outs don't do much, it is the repetitiveness of making him tell me what he did wrong, why it was wrong and apologizing that seems to work more. It has taken us a long time to even get there, so you're doing a great job!

  12. I have no advice, my son just turned 7 months old and my daughter is 3. I can't get my laundry done to save my life and I always feel like I'm behind on something. Soo.... no advice but just want you to know you're not alone!

  13. That age is so tough (for the little ones and the adults). I got some great strategies from the 1, 2, 3, Magic approach. The book was quick and easy to read and simple to implement/follow. It worked well for us from about age 2-6. I might need to revisit it for a refresher for my now almost 9yr (wow!) old.

  14. I love it when you write these nap time confessions and I seriously feel like I could have written every one myself!! Don't even get me started on trying to discipline these rascals....I know we need to be consistent, but I can't figure out what that needs to be!! So frustrating. And you might kill me for telling you this, but I actually just hired a woman to come to my house one time every two weeks to do LAUNDRY. When I was so sick during this pregnancy, I couldn't keep up. In between loads, she also cleans. She puts Brody's laundry away, she steams my clothes that are wrinkled, she is my Godsend! Its worth looking into, I swear. I could be as little as $45 every other week you are paying and you will be forever grateful!!!
