Thoughts for Thursday

Thoughts for Thursday

-We had our first snow day of 2015 on Tuesday and got a lot more than the weather man predicted.

I also had my first mom fail of 2015 because I never bought Miller any snow gear so he couldn't go out and play in it!! Even though it snows a decent amount here in the winter it never crossed my mind. Needless to say we have a snowsuit and boots on their way to our house as we speak.

-Any advice for dealing with temper tantrums and screaming?  I can't even count how many he has thrown this week and he just picked up the screaming a few weeks ago and it makes me want to rip my hair out!!

-We've been trying out new wines lately, now that I can drink again, and just had this one.  I love a good red in the winter and this one did not disappoint for the $10 price range

- I just started reading Amy Poehler's book Yes Please and so far I love it! I'm in the need for new book recommendations so please send your favorites my way.

-You all were right the Palmetto cheese with jalapenos is even better than the original.  I think I might be addicted to this stuff.

- My sweet tooth has been out of control since I was pregnant with Matthew so I gave up sweets for the month of January. Ive made it 7 days so far! To best honest I'm actually really proud of myself because I thought I would give in after two days but I haven't. That doesn't mean I don't dream about m&ms all day long.

- Matthew loves to sleep on me but I'm afraid I might be starting a bad habit because the last two nights he wouldn't sleep unless he was on my chest.
It's so hard because I don't want to give up all the baby snuggles but I also don't want to create another bad sleeper.

-We're taking  Miller to get his first haircut this weekend.  It's not really a cut it's more of them shaping it up so it looks better and not overgrown. I'm not going to lie I'm a little sad and nervous. I'm afraid he's going to  look too grown up afterwards. I might shed a tear.

  2. So glad you like the spicy pimiento! That baby is seriously the most precious thing in the world. Snuggle away mama! Ivey went through a temper tantrum phase and I laughed and walked away from her. Worked like a charm.

  3. That pimento cheese sounds delish! What I found works with my kids is not giving in to what they want, putting them on the couch and telling them when they're done they can get off. I just let them cry it out so to speak (I'm there with them) but when they see I'm not reacting they stop pretty quickly. Not sure if that works for all kids, but it has with mine the few times they threw one.
And I need to try that wine! I'll keep my eyes peeled! Xo

  4. I'm obsessed with Palmetto cheese too!! So impressed you've gone so long without sweets... I've been the same way with this pregnancy so I'm not looking forward to cutting back after the baby is here! Will have to add that wine to my after-baby shopping list :)

  5. I should do a January without sweets, too - the holidays were out of control for me! I just couldn't stop eating! Matthew is so precious - I wouldn't be able to stop snuggling either - and I can't wait to see Miller after his haircut!

  7. We had snow here too! It is so hard to gie up the sweets after the holidays! Little Matthew is so cute! I am going through something similar with Camden. Does he sleep in the Rock n Play if not on your chest? I'm starting to think Camden is out growing his and we may have to transition to the crib soon :(

  9. That cheese is basically crack. I cannot get enough of it! Good for you giving up your sweets, I need to follow you! Why does a sweet tooth appear with the second baby?!

  12. Gorgeous snow picture! It's so pretty (and cold I'm sure, but still!). YES to that pimento cheese. Try mixing it in with grits or use it on a quesadilla also! #heavenonearth

  13. Have you read The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty? So good! Don't blame you for wanting to snuggle that little guy!!

  14. gal, the temper tantrums are real. I don't have much advice for you other than that Brody is right there with him. Matt and I are trying to figure out the best solution or way to react to his tantrums, but we really haven't found the perfect thing yet. I try to mostly ignore him, but if he won't stop, I will bring him up to his crib and let him regroup. He loves his crib and that's where his blanket and monkey pacifier live, so he gets in his comfort zone. Keep me posted on any solutions that work for you!

  15. the "Andy Cohen Diaries" are SO GOOD! Especially if you're a Bravo & Celeb fan :) And I also loved "Kitchen House" (similar to "The Help" but set in Virginia in the 1800s). The pimento cheese is the BEST!!

  18. I used to think I could relate to you and then you said you gave up sweets. Just kidding ;). I need to do that but I am so addicted to chocolate. I pick dessert over wine most nights! My boys have the worst tantrums when they are tired, not sure if that could be Miller's issue. I did just order a book for helping me cope with teague's tantrums - so far it's been helpful.

  19. I've given up sweets for multi-week stretches several times and I've felt amazing. Eventually (if you don't cheat, or hardly cheat) you absolutely lose your sweet tooth. SO keep it up! Sugar wrecks havoc on the body, too, so you might notice that you a ton more energy, etc. Good luck!
