What's in my Hospital Bag?

Since I have about a week left before baby boy #2 arrives I figured it was about time to get my hospital bag packed!! I honestly can't remember what I packed for Miller but I remember having a lot of stuff I didn't need so I'm trying to keep it simple this time around.

What's in my hospital bag?

For Me:
  • Comfortable Nightgown- since I'm having a c-section I don't want anything near my incision site so a nightgown is key. I was lucky enough to snag this exact Ralph Lauren nightgown from Marshall's for $25!
  • Robe- since I'm going to have to walk the halls 400 times before I can leave post surgery I want to have a robe to layer over my nightgown/hospital gown. I have this lightweight one from Target and love it.
  • Nursing sleep bras- much more comfortable than regular nursing bras and I like to have the extra support
  • Slippers for walking around and flip flops for the shower
  • Boppy pillow/nursing pillow- for c-section mamas I found it necessary just to help prop the baby up in my lap when I was still in pain and sore
  • Nursing Pads- I swear by the Lansinoh brand
  • Lanolin nipple cream- I used this from the get go last time and again I liked the Lansinoh brand
  • My own pillow in a colored pillowcase- don't use white or it might get mixed up with the hospital pillows
  • Hair dryer, hair brush, hair ties, bobby pins/clips
  • Toiletries and make up
  • Lotion and chap stick- I remember the hospital air being very dry
  • Insurance card and ID
  • Ipad, Iphone, Camera and all chargers
  • Going home outfit

For Baby:
  • Swaddle blankets- but will probably just end up using the hospital blankets while we're there but these will come in handy if it's chilly the day we take him home
  • Going home outfit
  • An extra outfit or two
  • Pacifiers- my hospital will NOT give them to you so I have to bring my own
  • Car Seat

For Dad:
  • 3-4 comfy outfits and pajamas
  • Slippers
  • Snacks
  • Pillows
  • Toiletries

Is there anything I'm forgetting?!

I'm not bringing diapers, wipes etc because the hospital will have a ton. I'm also not bringing my own underwear because the mesh undies are AMAZING and all I could handle wearing post c-section last time.

  2. I have been wondering about the nightgown vs. PJ pants thing, I think I'll look for something similar to your gown to pack! Thanks for posting this! I can't believe you're already a week away from seeing your little guy, so excited for you!

  6. Perfect list. These are probably the exact same things that I would bring. I feel for you having a repeat C section. I actually had a VBAC with my second, but you are so right about just wearing a night gown and the mesh undies (I stole extra, because they were so great- haha). Good luck with everything!!

  10. I bought new, fluffy, super comfy slippers for the hospital. I was so excited to put them on after being in labor the entire day. After the nurse argued with me for 5 minutes about taking a bath and I gave in because I was too tired to push the issue, I got out of bed, put my slippers on and gush. About a gallon of blood rushed out of me and hit the floor and my slippers. It looked like a homicide scene. I hope you have much better luck than I did with your slippers!!!

  11. I loved the mesh undies. THey even gave me a few to take home. I had a c-section so I can totally relate to all your items that's a must.

  14. That robe is so key! The one is the hospitals are terrible and you can never find the little ties to line up correctly!

  15. Never thought I'd ever hear someone say they actually like the mesh underwear in hospitals! I always feel so bad putting them on people but little did I know they're comfortable!
