Monday Updates: Blog Housekeeping, Social Media Break, and Shopping

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a good weekend. I sure did. I got lots of "me" time and it was so nice. I spent all day Saturday shopping with my mom and sister and then Sunday I treated myself to my first pedicure since July.  I can officially no longer reach my toes to paint them so it was time. Before I had Miller I used to get them every two weeks and I miss them so much!  If I could pay him to sit still at the nail salon I would :)

- I did some blog housekeeping and finally updated my House Tour and Pregnancy & Baby Tabs! It's only taken me forever but it's just about done. It's also made me realize that I have quite a few posts I need  to get published that are missing or still sitting in my drafts.

- The theme of my life right now is declutter and organize. I'm trying to get everything- closets, rooms, basement, garage etc organized so that I feel settled when the second baby comes.

- I took an accidental break from Instagram and Facebook over the past few days and it feels so good.  Sometimes it's just nice not to look at social media. I'm working on being more present when I'm doing things instead of constantly trying to document them.

- We went outlet shopping on Saturday and it was a huge success. It's definitely easier to avoid shopping for yourself when you're 33 weeks pregnant and none of the cute clothes fit but I got a ton of good stuff for Kyle, Miller, and Baby Boy.

- I saw everyone's favorite J.Crew vest in person and it's super disappointing.  It's not an actual tweed herringbone. It's just a herringbone print on the vest and honestly looks really cheap up close. (I'm probably going to be struck by lightening by the blog fashion gods but I had to tell you all the #truth) So don't be upset if it sold out and you missed it.  My sister and I were both surprised and disappointed. I have two J.Crew (not factory) quilted vests from last year and the overall quality is better than the factory vests this year in my opinion.

- I did get a jacket from J.Crew Factory as a present from my mom.  I'm saving it until Christmas, because it's not going to fit me until then anyway ;)

- The nursery is just about finished being painted!!  It only needs one more coat and then we can finally get it organized.  I think I will feel less stressed once I can get the room clean and organized.  I'm really excited to see how it's going to look. I really think my vision is coming together perfectly.

- I'm still doing great with my 30 Day Closet Remix and will be back later with an update!

  1. Glad to hear I didn't waste money on an over-priced vest! I did get a copycat version though that I hope will be amazing in person. Fingers crossed! Loving the organizational theme - something about fall cleaning or something maybe makes us want to get some shiz in order!? Happy Monday :)

  3. I originally thought the vest was tweed-like fabric too but I still love it. All of their vests are the same fabric (similar to other stores) so I don't feel like its a bad deal. They overcharge for everything regardless! I saw that jacket over the weekend, its so soft!! I'm excited to see your nursery! We're painting next weekend and that nesting instinct is really kicking in!

  4. Whoa, so good to know about the vest! Thank you! Which outlets did yall hit up? I still need to try the ones at National Harbor! :) I took the weekend off from most social media, too, and it was so refreshing! May plan to do that more often :)

  5. I saw the vest too and thought the same thing...reminds me of something you would find at Old Navy. Disappointed in J.Crew for that one!

I am still off FB...it's been over a month. Thinking I may go back on and defriend everyone that I don't see/talk to on a normal basis. The only thing I really miss of pics of my close friends kids!

  6. I felt the same way about the vest - it's so disappointing that it's not really tweed!! Sounds like you had a perfect weekend - I mean shopping, pedicures and housekeeping - love it!

  7. I am so glad you agree about the best!!! I ordered it when it came out this fall and was super disappointed when it was just a cheap looking pattern so I sent it right back! But I'm glad that you had lots of other shopping success! And yea for a technology free for days!

  10. I'm all about decluttering and organizing right now too! I think the nesting thing is in full force now! It is nice to take a break from social media for a bit. I have noticed that I'm not as present when I try to get the perfect instagram... I'm excited to look at your blog updates! I love house tours!

  11. So glad to hear about what you thought on the vest! I was on the fence, but I'm definitely not sad about it now that I know it's just printed. And you reminded me that I meant to get a pedicure this weekend, and forgot!

  13. When I saw that vest last year (or year before) I was so disappointed! Printed tweed? No thank you!

  14. That is definitely a disappointment! I was thinking it would be an actual tweed as opposed to a print -- I saw one at Marshall's that's a print and still cheaper than the factory price!

  15. Your weekend sounds perfect!! Love that new coat for Christmas! And hashtags are a love hate thing for me too (I especially love jimmy fallon and Justin timberlake's take on them - if you haven't seen it please youtube hashtags with their names).

  16. Seriously we are cut from the same cloth. I literally said the same exact thing about that vest to my friend just the other day! Total disappointment! I'm still bummed I didn't get that cute hereingbone one from Old Navy last winter!

  17. I was also super disappointed by the J. Crew herringbone vest! The color isn't quite what I had anticipated, and neither was the quality. So much of the factory items are totally hit or miss, and in my opinion, this was a miss!
