K & I are taking an early anniversary trip later this month to Charleston, SC. Charleston is one of my favorite cities and I cannot wait to go back!! K has never been so I am so excited to show him around, I know he's going to love it. We suckers for historic cities with palm trees.
I haven't been since I was in college and I have an idea of a few restaurants (besides Sonic, haha) and beaches I want to see again but I'm looking for advice on other must see/must do items while we're there and would LOVE suggestions.
Any good suggestions for:
-Restaurants
-City tours
-Plantation tours
-Beaches
-Shopping
-and anything else I'm missing
Thanks loves!
Have a great time! I'm sure it's going to be a great trip!
ReplyDeleteAwww, fun! My husband and I want to do either Savannah or Charleston sometime in the next year. My suggestion: go on trip adviser and see what places were most highly rated. That's what we always do and works pretty well.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip! I've never been to Charleston, but I look forward to hearing about it!
ReplyDeleteI have never been but wish I was going! I've only heard amazing things about Charleston!
ReplyDeleteOh my! We're living in Charleston now! I know it's a romantic trip, but if you're up for it, I'd totally love to meet for lunch or whatever!
ReplyDeleteAs far as recommendations go...
Restaurants...Taco Boy, Hyman's, Basil, Jestine's Kitchen
Beaches...Folly Beach
Shopping...all over, and there are outlets here, as well.
I'm new here, so I'm still learning, but I'll keep you posted!
I’ve never been to Charleston but would love to go. Have a great time celebrating you anniversary and take lots of pics!
ReplyDeleteCypress, Social, and SNOB are wonderful restaurants!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time!
Let us know when you get here! We'd love to show you around our town.
ReplyDeleteRestaurants: The Wreck of Richard and Charlene (http://www.wreckrc.com/). The place is a serious shack (doesn't even have a sign on the building), but it is the freshest and best seafood around. The only deal is that it is cash only and you need gps to find it.
Poe's Tavern on Sullivan's Island is also a must!
Hyman's downtown is good, but it's pretty much the tourist trap restaurant. You can count on a wait, but you'll get plenty of food.
Beaches: Folly is probably your best bet.
Shopping: There are Tanger Outlets in North Charleston, King Street has a lot of great shopping, and there's a little boutique village between Seabrook and Kiawah Islands (like Lilly and stuff).
Plantations: You really can't go wrong with any of them. Boone Hall has lots of events out there. If you are happening to come out the 24th KC and the Sunshine Band & the Village People will be having a concert out there. :-)
Other things to do:
• Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina have a Rockin The Point series every Friday. There's bands and bars. It's always pretty fun. Typically cover is $5, but it just depends on the band. Our boat is out there, so we hit this up from time to time.
• Patriots Point is always fun. You can tour the USS Yorktown and a sub.
• Angel Oak is near where we live. It's a 400ish year old tree. The thing is HUGE.
Email us and we can answer any questions you have or whatever.
Yay for anniversary trips! We just got back from our anniversary trip last night! Great idea! You guys are going to have so much fun. Sorry I can't be more helpful...I've never been to Charleston, but I can't wait to hear all about your trip! Take tons of pictures!
