Thoughts for Thursday: Demolition Week

Welcome back to another Thoughts for Thursday! Remember you can write about anything you want, just grab the button and link up below.

Last week and this week were demolition week at the house! Even though we've done this before it's always crazy to see your house completely gutted.  For reference see this post here for what our kitchen looked like before and what our original kitchen plans were.

View from the front door looking into the kitchen. We will be widening that doorway and changing all the trim around the doors in this hallway.

View of the kitchen looking into the dining room where we took the wall down.

View from another angle

The next two pictures are my old laundry room and our office closet which will be turned into our mudroom.  We were also supposed to put our pantry cabinets and wine bar area on this wall  but it turns out we are not going to have enough space in this area so we have to re-think this whole layout.  I'm considering a mudroom/pantry layout and then moving the wine fridge to our dining room wall.  We will finalize all this hopefully by the end of the week!

This is looking into the family room from the kitchen.  We took our built-ins out thinking we would move them to the sunroom area but we might end up putting them back in next to the fireplace.  It depends on what the wall looks like once we open up to the sunroom.   Our plan is to cover up with fireplace with shiplap (leaving some brick exposed) and get a better mantle built.

The sunroom wall should be opened up by tomorrow so we can see how that looks and how we're going to raise the floor and case out the wall opening.   We have a lot of stuff we need to make decisions on in the next two weeks and I'm excited yet nervous.

Things left to do in the next two weeks:
- finalize cabinet layout and cabinet style
- choose hardwood floors
- meet with interior designer for furniture layout
- finalize powder room options (will share more next week on that)
- finalize lighting layout for kitchen area

I'm trying my hardest to document it all here but we're sort of in the boring stages right now and I know it will be more fun to share as we start to make the fun decisions!

I'm assuming you're still living here while this is going on? Talk about disruption---but it'll be so great when you're done!

  9. Oh my goodness, I hate doing work on the house in general, and once, I had work done after we'd already moved in and it was excruciating. I do not envy you and send hugs by the truckloads.

I'm currently talking about legacy on the blog. What it means to me. And how I want the world to remember me. That and my weekly Project Sister Act Link-Up is now live, and will be up until next Thursday. I would so love for you to come over and join in, and perhaps leave me a comment, you know I always love to hear from you xoxo
